Vegan comfort food

Culinary trends 2.0
Vegan pizzas will also delight carnivores.

Not long ago, vegan and vegetarian food was considered tasteless, boring, "rodent food". However, meatless variations and combinations are always more original and tempting, even for carnivores. It's a new trend vegan comfort food, that warm, gentle, rich one that caresses and soothes us when we have a really bad day. The vegan movement offers more and more really good alternative combinations and recipes for meals that are so tasty and juicy that the very thought of meat is completely unnecessary. In 2020, plates will be dominated by vegetable-centric meals and vegan versions of dishes that otherwise contain meat: pasta alfredo, vegan pizza, vegan lasagna ... Today we can find recipes for all of our favorite dishes alternative vegan recipe. Replace butter with tahini, milk chocolate with cocoa beans, mayonnaise with tofu, cream with almond or hazelnut cream... and there are no more limits to creating meatless dishes.

Drinks to make you feel better

Non-alcoholic cocktails are IN!
Non-alcoholic cocktails are IN!

This year's trend is sober socializing. Evenings lost in intoxicating drinks and mornings after, crowned with a fierce cat, are a thing of the past. 2020 will be the year of drinking to feel better. Alcohol-free cocktails respectively "mocktails" (mock means fake, fake) and drinks with a low alcohol content will be at least as desirable (and in the same price range) as those containing alcohol this year.

The offer of non-alcoholic drinks is also increasing here: non-alcoholic beers, low-alcohol beers, non-alcoholic cocktails, low-alcohol rosés and on and on. For pleasant evenings, beautiful mornings, fully lived days and a healthy mind in a healthy body.

Less added sugar

Stevia is an increasingly popular natural sweetener.
Stevia is an increasingly popular natural sweetener.

Sugar has long been known as enemy number one in the nutrition world. An incredible amount of research has confirmed that excessive sugar consumption is harmful to health. One of the consequences is diabetes, and sugar can also cause diseases of the kidneys, liver, heart... That's why more and more people are buying and consuming food with as little added sugar as possible. The food industry thus faces a challenge: to offer food that has less sugar, but is still tasty enough. That is why more and more sweeteners are appearing on the market, which are not harmful to health.

The label "sugar-free" in most cases means that the product does not contain sucrose (table sugar), but artificial sweeteners (saccharin, aspartame, sucralose, maltodextrin...) have been added to it, which are also not healthy for the body, as they can cause addiction . If possible, choose foods with less dangerous sweeteners: honey, coconut syrup, maple syrup or foods containing natural sweeteners that are the least dangerous: stevia, erythritol, xylitol and yacon syrup. In 2020, therefore, we expect to see more and more food with the label "no added sugar".

Most people still associate protein with meat. But also plants are full of protein! For strong muscles, you can get enough protein from plant sources. Even among recreational and professional athletes, plant-based foods are no longer taboo. In fact, it is becoming more and more popular, as they note that it is also good for faster regeneration and better general well-being. Research has found that those who eat more protein should have larger muscles, but the type of protein (animal or vegetable) should not have any effect on this.

The most plant proteins are in legumes, green leafy vegetables, rice, tofu, lentils, hemp, quinoa and amaranth.
