These are body parts that we no longer need

Body parts we no longer need

You know what parts of the body we don't need anymore? During the phase of evolution, which is counted in millions of years, our body went through radical changes. While adapting to the challenges of time, some things developed, some "disappeared", and then there are parts of the body and abilities that remained, but today they only make a "crowd" and a "show". Meet the seven body parts that once played an important role for the human species, but evolution put them on the bench, where they still warm the bench instead of being "sold". Male nipple? Why do men need her??? Wisdom tooth or appendix?

You know which ones they are body parts we no longer need? Throughout history, our bodies have changed, added "functions", rewarded existing organs, chewed up some and spat them out, and then there are those parts of the body that today are just "trapping around" and no longer have a real function.

We count on our body today seven useless parts of the body, which we inherited, but they are of no use to us at all.

Body parts we no longer need:

Male nipples
During the first 28 days, both male and female embryos develop along the same hoof. In embryos with a Y chromosome, testosterone then appears, which causes the formation of male reproductive organs. Even before that, mammary glands develop, resulting in warts, which do not disappear despite the influence of testosterone.

Goosebumps

Even the skin of a chicken is a "relic".

Under the hairs there is a muscle that raises and lowers the hair. Itching of the skin once served to keep us warm, and when we met the enemy, it made us appear bigger and more fearsome. It should also be added that once upon a time people were much hairier. Even today, the hairs stand on end, but they are shorter, thinner and rarer, so the skin no longer serves this role.

Coccyx/coccyx
Humans don't need a tail, because our body constitution is already capable of hunting for balance. We only have its germ in the form of the fused spinal vertebrae known as the coccyx.

Reflex grip
What happens when you put your finger in a baby's hand? She squeezes him hard. It does this unconsciously. It is a grasping reflex. Many monkeys have it so that the cubs cling tightly to their mother's hair. With people today, it's just a cute act, but unfortunately not much more than that.

Wisdom tooth

Ah that wisdom tooth!
Ah that wisdom tooth!

The human jaw used to be much larger, which is why people today have so many problems with wisdom teeth, because there is simply no more room for them in the oral cavity. The jaw has shrunk over time, as we are no longer forced to eat hard and raw food that required a lot of chewing. Another plus of four extra teeth. Because tooth care was not at the level it is today, they fell out earlier and every extra one was worth its weight in gold.

Wagging the ears
Can you wiggle your ears? Well done. But apart from impressing some little kid, you don't get anything out of it. The muscles that make it possible to move the ears are a purpose in themselves in humans, but animals also use them to catch sounds, which gives them better hearing.

Third eyelid (Plica semilunaris)
In the inner corner of the human eye, there is a small skin which, unlike that of e.g. birds, dogs and other mammals, it is of no use at all. It was once supposed to protect the eyes from moisture and air.
