Things you will most likely never see again at airports

Although aviation is slowly waking up and more and more people are traveling again, some things will not return to normal for some time. In this article, we present to you how covid has changed air passenger traffic.

Employees

Aviation industry experts explain that the number of employed persons at the airport has decreased. This includes all areas from baggage, security and boarding. With this, they want to limit contact with passengers. Online "check-in" will become standard, so that every passenger will scan their tickets and print luggage tags at home.

Disinfection

The time the plane "spends" on the ground after landing, between one flight and the next, doubled from 20 to 40 minutes. The reason is that the staff must thoroughly disinfect the plane before the next flight. All this results in fewer flights and a major change in flight schedules.

Hand luggage

Passengers can take hand luggage and personal items into the aircraft cabin. The allowed amount of free checked baggage is written on the ticket and varies by carrier. An additional fee is required for exceeding the permitted quantity. Some airlines have already started charging for hand luggage regardless of its weight.

Containers at the security check

Airports will most likely completely remove the bins in which passengers place their belongings when going through security. They are operated by hundreds of passengers every day without ever being cleaned. Passengers will thus place their items directly on the conveyor belt.

Romantic getaways

Only passengers are allowed in the airport terminal, so those accompanying them are prohibited from entering at many airports. Airports thus lose the charm of farewells and romantic encounters.

The rise of private aviation

Until recently, private jets were completely out of reach for anyone who wasn't obscenely rich or famous—in some cases, both. Private airlines, however, have seen a huge increase since the epidemic.

Casinos

If you have children and layover flights to wait for, your children will be deprived of the casinos. Most of the casinos in the airports have been removed or are not operating.

Faces

For now, passengers and employees at the airport and on the plane still have to wear a mask, so we won't see "naked" faces at airports for a long time. This is becoming our reality, and when you go on a trip, we hope that there is still a smile spreading underneath.
