Apparently most of us don't do it well enough. No one wants you to resent strawberries, but you've probably been eating tiny bugs with them all these years!

How do we properly clean strawberries? If we give them in water mixed with salt, we will get rid of the dirt, as well as the small insects that are most likely inside. Some even suggest adding a little vinegar, especially if the strawberries you bought were grown with pesticides. Alcoholic vinegar will reduce the amount of chemicals consumed. There are, of course, more tips on how to properly handle strawberries in salt water. Some say that it is enough to soak them for 5 minutes, others say that we have to soak them for 30 minutes. The water in which you will soak the strawberries should be lukewarm, so that the salt will dissolve in it sooner. Then rinse the strawberries well, otherwise you will be nibbling on the salty strawberries. 🙂
