Do you ever wonder what the correct order to apply makeup is? Are you confused by the different opinions and advice about it?

Makeup is an art that requires knowledge the correct order of makeup application. Applying makeup correctly can highlight your best features and create a flawless look. Follow these steps for superior results.

If you ask a million people to explain their makeup routine, you'll probably get a million different answers. While some start with their lips, others swear by applying foundation first, the rarer examples are those who improvise every time.

We recommend the following order:

1. Skin preparation

Begin by gently cleansing your face to remove impurities and excess oil. Then use a toner to balance the skin's pH, which helps to minimize pores and prepare the skin for makeup application. After the toner, use a light, moisturizing serum that will nourish the skin, add moisture to it and create a base for makeup. Then apply a good quality moisturizer suitable for your skin type. The cream is best gently patted into the skin so that it is completely absorbed and creates a smooth and hydrated foundation for makeup.

2. Example

The next step is to apply the primer. Primer is crucial as it fills pores, smoothes skin texture and allows makeup to stay in place for longer. Choose a primer that suits your needs – there are primers that minimize pores, mattify the skin or lighten the complexion. Apply the primer all over the face and gently pat it to absorb into the skin.

3. Concealer

Concealer is an excellent tool for covering irregularities and dark circles under the eyes. Choose a concealer that is slightly lighter than your skin tone to lighten dark areas. Apply it to blemishes, pimples or dark areas under the eyes and gently pat it in with your finger or a brush to blend into the skin.

4. Liquid foundation

Applying liquid foundation is key to an even complexion. Choose a foundation that matches your skin tone and type. Apply it with a brush, sponge or fingers and spread it gently on the face. For a natural look, apply a thin layer, then add more layers as needed for fuller coverage. Be sure to spread the foundation evenly over the neck and scalp to prevent visible transitions between the colored areas of the skin.

5. Contour and lighting

Contouring and highlighting add definition and dimension to the face. For contouring, use a matte bronzer to shade the lower cheekbones, sides of the nose and forehead. Apply the highlighter to the tops of the cheekbones, nose, forehead and chin for a radiant and youthful look.

6. Eyebrows

Eyebrows frame the face and are important to the overall look. Use a brow pencil or eyeshadow to define and shape them. For a natural look, follow the natural shape of the eyebrows and gently accentuate the arches. Use an eyebrow brush to blend the color softly to create a natural look.

7. Shading the eyes

Start by shading the eyes. Apply a base eyeshadow all over the lid, then use darker shades in the outer corner of the eye for depth. Use a lighter shade under the brow bone and in the inner corner of the eye to highlight. Use different eyeshadow shades for more dimension.

8. Eye liner and mascara

Apply eyeliner to accentuate your eyes. For a more dramatic look, use gel liner and create a precise line along the lash line. If you want to tone down the look, use an eyeliner and smudge it with a cotton bud for a softer look. Then apply mascara that will lengthen and curl the eyelashes. When applying mascara, start at the root of the lashes and move towards the ends for maximum length and volume.

9. Blush and highlighter

Apply blush to the cheeks for a fresh and healthy look. Apply the blush to the apples of the cheeks and gently blend it towards the shadows to create a natural red-cheeked look. Then use the highlighter on the top of the cheekbones, the bridge of the nose, the center of the forehead and under the browbones. The highlighter will create a subtle glow and highlight selected parts of the face.

10. Lips

Start by lining your lips with a lip liner slightly darker than your lipstick color. A lip liner will create definition and prevent lipstick from smudging. Then apply a lipstick or liquid lipstick that matches your look. If you want to emphasize the lips further, you can apply a little lip gloss in the center of the lower lip.

11. Fixing makeup

Finally, don't forget to fix your makeup. Use a colorless fixative spray that will keep your look fresh and lasting throughout the day. Lightly spray the face from a distance to distribute the fixative evenly over the skin.

Do not forget, practice and experimenting with different techniques will help you find the perfect look, which suits your wishes and face shape.
