When Sasha Selipanov, a designer who co-created high-end cars at Koenigsegg and Bugatti, announced the creation of a new brand, Nilu27, the automotive world held its breath. What could a designer with such an enviable career offer? The answer is here – NILU, a hypercar that combines classic elements of automotive design with the latest technological innovations.
Under the impressive bodywork NILE- yes hides a 6.5-liter, 80-degree V-12 engine designed by Hartley Engines of New Zealand. This engine promises more than 1,000 horsepower (745 kW) and spins like an electric motor, a rarity among gasoline engines. The special feature of the engine is the "hot V" design, where the exhaust pipes are placed on top, which enables extremely efficient heat dissipation and exceptional performance. The exhaust system, made from 3D printed Inconel, ends with a space-inspired triple tailpipe.
Driving like the past, performance straight from the future
NILU is designed for pure motoring pleasure. Instead of a modern automatic transmission, it offers a seven-speed manual transmission with a shift lever, reminiscent of the legendary cars of the past. It is a real tribute to the analogue era of motoring, where the driver's experience is in the first place. The driver's cabin is minimalist, without unnecessary buttons and screens. The only screen is located in the rearview mirror, which provides better visibility.
Innovative chassis and uncompromising braking power
The NILU is based on a carbon monocoque chassis, which is complemented by aluminum subframes, which ensures exceptional rigidity and low weight. The suspension is provided by a double coil spring construction, which enables an exceptional position on the road. The wheels come in different sizes – 20-inch front and 21-inch rear – shod with premium Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2R tires that provide excellent grip. Stopping is handled by Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes, which ensure superior stopping power and durability.
Limited edition, unlimited possibilities
Nilu27 will produce only 15 of these impressive special edition cars, but it is not entirely clear if these cars will be homologated for the road. In addition, the company has another 54 road-homologated units in the pipeline, meaning most of these cars will likely be reserved for racetracks.
Public presentation at Pebble Beach
NILU will make its public debut at Pebble Beach during Monterey Car Week on August 15. Prototypes and the first customer cars will be assembled in Irvine, California, before production moves overseas.
Loyalty to tradition and looking to the future
Co-founder and COO of Nilu27, Inna Selipanov, said of NILU's announcement: “We are thrilled and humbled by the response to our social media teasers. As the world marches towards electrification, we firmly believe that these cars will continue to be relevant due to their timelessness and find a place in the collections of passionate car enthusiasts.”
NILU27 with its first model NILE brings a breath of fresh air to the hypersport world. Combining classic elements with state-of-the-art technology creates a car that is not only extremely powerful, but also a tribute to motoring's past. Whether you are a fan of classic manual gearboxes or modern technological solutions, NILU offers something for everyone. The price has not yet been revealed, but given the car's exclusivity and technological sophistication, we can expect the NILU to be placed in the highest price range. We will soon see if NILU lives up to the high expectations of the automotive world - but one thing is for sure, Nilu27 is here to stay-
