This is the Samsung Galaxy A56: a mid-range champion that doesn't hide its ambitions with a price tag of around €499

Samsung's mid-range Samsung Galaxy A56 line is becoming an increasingly serious competitor to premium models.

Samsung's Galaxy A series has been the golden mean of smartphones for years - just powerful enough not to look cheap, but affordable enough not to hurt your wallet. And if the latest leaks are to be believed, the upcoming Samsung Galaxy A56 challenged more expensive rivals even more boldly.

Thanks to the indestructible Evan Blass (evleaks) we now have GIF animations that reveal the phone in all its spinning glory. Silver, pink, black and pale green There are four color options that will be available, but the real change lies in the details.

Design: fewer edges, more sharpness

The first thing that catches your eye is flat edges and redesigned camera moduleThe three lenses are now placed together on a black background, giving the phone a more cohesive and modern look. But what really stands out – literally – are the volume and power buttons, which are now located on a slightly raised “island.” Samsung is clearly experimenting with functionality and ergonomics, which is rare in this price range.

On the other hand – less encouraging news. The screen is still surrounded by noticeable bezels, especially the bottom one is much thicker. At a time when competitors like Google and Apple have managed to bring their midrange phones visually closer to premium models, this is a decision that Samsung will have a hard time defending.

Hardware: Will Exynos finally be up to the task in the Samsung Galaxy A56?

In terms of specifications, the picture is a bit more hazy. Geekbench test suggests that the Galaxy A56 will be powered by Samsung's own Exynos 1580, a chipset that we haven't seen in action in practice yet. Its performance remains a question – will this be another chip that suffers from overheating and poor optimization? Or will Samsung redeem itself for past mistakes this time?

What we know for sure is battery – it is expected 5,000 mAh capacity and surprisingly fast 45W wired chargingThis is especially interesting since even the premium Galaxy S25 remains limited to 25WIs this Samsung's attempt to make mid-range phones offer better price-performance ratio?

Camera: evolution instead of revolution Samsung Galaxy A56

The camera setup remains largely unchanged from previous generations. On the back we will find:

  • 50 MP main camera
  • 12 MP ultra-wide-angle lens
  • 5 MP macro camera

The biggest change? The front camera gets an upgrade to 12 MP, which means better selfies and video calls. Considering how popular mobile photography is, this is at least one welcome development.

When can we expect it?

If Samsung sticks to its established schedule, we will see the Samsung Galaxy A56 officially seen in March – together with his two younger brothers, Galaxy A36 and Galaxy A26.

The big question remains, however, whether the Samsung Galaxy A56 will even reached the American market. Previous generation, Galaxy A55, has skipped the US, which was a rather unusual decision. This year, however, Samsung might have a good reason to correct this step – Apple is already preparing new generation iPhone SE, and Google is said to have its Pixel 9a released in March, which is earlier than usual.

Samsung simply cannot afford to be absent from the mid-range segment of the world's largest market.

Conclusion: another solid A, but is that enough?

The Galaxy A56 will apparently be another great mid-range phone – good processor, decent camera and fast charging will definitely help it in its fight with Apple and Google. Looking at the previous prices of the Galaxy A series and the competition, we can The Galaxy A56 is expected to be priced around €499 in Europe.

But the question remains: is it enough? With increasing competition and the fact that phones are becoming increasingly similar to each other, Samsung will need to show more than just evolutionary tweaks if it wants to maintain its lead.

Ultimately, if the price remains attractive and Samsung doesn't do anything stupid (like limit availability to select markets), the Galaxy A56 promises to be a one of the best choices for those who want a lot for their money.

Will this be enough to beat the Pixel 9a and iPhone SE? That's a question that will only be answered after the official launch.

What do you think? Are you excited for the Galaxy A56 or waiting for the competition?
