This is what we know about the iPhone 17 series: all the secrets of the new Apple iPhone 17 series released - 2025

Based on the phone mockups, we can draw conclusions.

The iPhone 17 series - 2025 mockups are here, and they look so convincing you could easily mistake them for the real thing - if only they weren't made of plastic. So let's take a look at what this year's lineup of Apple adult toys has in store for us.

Although it is until the autumn presentation iPhone 17 series With just a few months to go, the first physical “dummy” models have already appeared in the hands of tech enthusiasts – and yes, they look so real that you almost want to plug them into a charger. Thanks to Apple Insider, we have the most comprehensive look yet at all four upcoming models: from the “safe” iPhone 17, to the ambitious Pro brothers, to the ultra-thin Apple iPhone 17 Air, which could easily be a candidate for the title of “the most diet phone of all time.” Let's take a closer look at the iPhone 17 series.

While these are still prototype mockups, they are often a pretty reliable indicator of what's coming in the fall - at least in terms of design. Apple is a master at hiding details, but case designers can't afford to wait for the official release. So they create replicas based on plans and rumors - and they can be surprisingly accurate. That's what Apple wants too.

Now, without further ado – let's walk through all four models and see which one is worth replacing this year... and which one remains just a slightly more polished version of last year's model.

iPhone 17: The most boring among the stars

Let's start with the base iPhone 17 model. Not because it's the most interesting, but because we have to start somewhere. Design? Recycled from last year - vertical camera, familiar buttons, classic "Apple look". In other words: nothing new on the Western front. But if you were expecting a revolution, Apple kindly invites you to the Pro models - that's where the real things are happening.

iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max: When “Pro” Really Means free to your imagination – iPhone 17 series

Now for the models Apple really wants you to buy. The iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max borrow some design tricks from Google's Pixel — most notably that gigantic, full-width rear camera module. Sleek? Maybe. Standout? Definitely.

It's supposedly a new telephoto system, placed horizontally inside. The cameras remain three, but accessories like the flash, microphone, and LiDAR are now placed in a more "organized" way - on the right side. And let's face it: the larger Pro Max looks like a superhero with its camera, while the Pro acts more like his apprentice.

The SIM slot is located on the left side on the Pro Max mockup - meaning the global version will likely still support physical SIM cards, unlike the US eSIM obsession.

And for all you symmetry lovers: the bottom of the phone now proudly displays five holes on either side of the USB-C port. Nice, orderly, and… probably completely irrelevant.

iPhone 17 Air: Apple goes on a diet

The third in line – the iPhone 17 Air – is an absolute star mockup. Why? Because it's thinner than your summer portfolio after a vacation in Tuscany. At just 5.5mm thick, it's the thinnest iPhone ever. So thin that the USB-C connector almost looks out like an uninvited guest.

Camera? Modest – a single lens, but probably with 48 MP and 2x digital zoom, which Apple knows how to package very nicely as “revolutionary optics.” Due to the thinness of the construction, the camera bump is quite noticeable – but hey, aesthetics suffer if you want to weigh less than a bar of chocolate.

The Air mockup even arrived slightly bent (plastic and glass aren't the perfect combination for physical prototypes). Is this a sign of the upcoming #Bendgate 2.0? Apple is surely already assembling its PR team just in case.

Technical goodies

All models are expected to have 12GB of RAM for the first time this year – meaning they’ll finally be able to handle all those Safari tabs we never close. The operating system? iOS 19, which borrows a few tricks from visionOS – Apple’s system for its Vision Pro glasses. In other words: iPhone meets metaverse, but without the glasses.

And now we wait…

All four models – iPhone 17, 17 Pro, 17 Pro Max and 17 Air – are expected in September 2025. Until then, we'll have to endure speculation, renders and – of course – mockups, which, to be honest, are already convincing enough to confuse many people in an Apple store.

Of course, the key question remains: how much will all this cost, and will the difference between the models really justify the price? Well, at least the models are still free (for now).
