This will be the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7: the foldable king returns – thinner, stronger and (maybe) smarter

Samsung has dominated the foldable phone market for years, and if the rumors are true, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 will prove why once again. July 2025 is approaching, and with it comes a new generation of technological wizardry that promises thinner designs, larger screens, improved durability, and a camera that could put the competition in your pocket. So what do we know about this upcoming star?

Samsung July clearly has it written into the DNA of its foldable devices. Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 was announced in July 2024, just like the Z Fold 5 a year earlier, and the Z Fold 7 will be no exception. Reliable sources like Ice Universe are already hinting at a big summer reveal that could bring a few surprises in addition to the phone – perhaps new bone conduction headphones.

But the date is just the beginning. The real story is in the design, which is said to be thinner and more ergonomic than ever before. Measuring 158.4 x 143.1 x 4.5 mm, the Z Fold 7 will be 1.1 mm thinner than its predecessor when unfolded. The outer screen will be 11 mm wider, meaning there will finally be no more awkward typing on a too-narrow keyboard, while the inner screen is said to stretch to about 8.2 inches. Renders created by OnLeaks and Android Headlines suggest a sleek triple camera setup on the back, designed in the style of the Galaxy S25 Ultra, while also promising an improved hinge and advanced water and dust resistance. This may be the first Fold to survive the summer downpour without drama.

The camera that catches the stars Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7

One of the most exciting rumors is the arrival of a 200MP main camera, which we already saw on the Galaxy S25 Ultra. This would be a significant jump from the 50MP on the Z Fold 6 and could make the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 one of the best camera phones on the market. The 12MP ultra-wide-angle camera and 10MP telephoto camera will most likely remain unchanged, but the under-display selfie camera under the inner screen will receive an upgrade. How much better it will be than the current 4MP camera is not yet clear, but even a small improvement could mean a significant step forward in the quality of selfies and video calls. Samsung is clearly betting on the philosophy of “more pixels, better photos” – whether this will hold true remains to be seen in practice.

Power and battery: No surprises, but reliability

Under the hood, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 will likely be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy processor, the same as the S25 Ultra, which means raw power without compromise. So far, there are no signs that Samsung is experimenting with Exynos or Dimensity chips. No major changes are expected for the battery, however – it will remain at 4400 mAh, with charging also remaining at the same speeds as its predecessor. This means that those of you who dreamed of 65 W charging will not get their money's worth yet. Nevertheless, the battery will provide enough power for all-day use, as Samsung has been optimizing its software for the best possible autonomy for years.

S-Pen: Thinner phone, thicker question

The S-Pen is an indispensable accessory for many with the Fold, but this is where things get complicated. According to some reports, Samsung is reportedly ditching the traditional digitizer in favor of a new technology that allows for a thinner design – which could contribute to a 0.6mm reduction in the thickness of the device. This could mean that the S-Pen will lose Bluetooth functionality, as it did with the Galaxy S25 Ultra, or it could work in a different way, similar to the Apple Pencil. How this change will affect the user experience when sketching and taking notes will only become clear at the launch.

What else?

Samsung may still have a trick up its sleeve, but for now, it looks like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 will be an evolution, not a revolution. Larger screens, a thinner profile, a brutal camera, and reliable power – all of this sounds like a recipe for success. Water resistance will likely remain at the IPX8 level, like the Z Fold 6, which means the phone will survive a dip in water, but dust resistance remains questionable. The price remains unknown for now, but if Samsung is smart, it won't exaggerate, as competitors like the Honor Magic V3 and OnePlus Open are already seriously breathing down its neck.

Why would you want it?

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 promises to take everything we love about foldables and do it a little better. A slimmer design for a lighter pocket, a wider screen for more comfortable typing, a camera that could outshine many DSLRs, and a processor that can handle it all. If you're a fan of tech gadgets or simply looking for a phone that can do more than the rest, the Z Fold 7 is worth considering.
