DJI's new DJI Osmo 360 will try to prove itself in fierce competition with the GoPro Max and Insta360 X5 with its spectacular resolution and long battery life. Is it worth waiting until July for it, or should we just order the old, proven competitor?

DJI In recent years, we have become accustomed to cameras, drones and gizmos that promise everything from professional footage to autonomous flight almost to Mars. This time, the Chinese giant has decided to take over the market, where GoPro and Insta360 in particular have been flexing their muscles for a long time. Their new model, DJI Osmo 360, long-awaited by rotating lens enthusiasts, has just escaped into the online wilds – thankfully not via ChatGPT, but via a much more reliable source.

The leaks are not over yet – thank you, Igor!

The new information comes from well-known leaker Igor Bogdanov, who posted the first official promotional photos of the upcoming camera on the social network X. DJI Osmo 360Although DJI is still officially silent like a high school student in love on a first date, Igor has already revealed some juicy details that have delighted fans of quality action footage.

Cameras on steroids: 8K in 360° and a battery like a marathon

One of the photos clearly shows the marking “8K30.” Yes, you read that correctly – 8K resolution at 30 frames per second, which is high enough quality to count your best friend's pores during a bungee jump. At the same time, the photos suggest that at this high resolution, the Osmo 360 camera will be able to record for over three hours on a single battery charge. In other words: finally a camera that will outlast our motivation for a Sunday run.

A few more details for mystery lovers

Details about the Osmo 360’s other features remain as secret as Grandma’s donut recipe, which she refuses to give away. These kinds of leaks usually mean that DJI is in the final stages of development and that we can expect an official announcement very soon. Rumor has it that one of the online retailers – again – clicked “publish” a little too quickly. Hey, we’ve all been there, haven’t we?

What can we expect?! DJI Osmo 360

The new DJI Osmo 360 is expected to feature a sensor measuring approximately 1/1.3-inches, allowing it to capture stunning photos with a resolution of up to 72 megapixels and videos in a top resolution of up to 8K at 30 frames per second. For all those who love slow motion, there will also be 4K recording at 120 frames per second - ideal for watching your friend fall spectacularly off his bike (hopefully with a soft landing). The device will be powered by a 1950 mAh battery, which is slightly less than the Insta360 X5 (2400 mAh), but still enough for several hours of adrenaline-pumping footage.

The camera is also expected to support DJI’s trusted and popular Mimo App, which will allow you to edit and share your crazy adventures on social media practically faster than you can say “selfie stick.” Not to mention the practical mount with an integrated USB-C port, which will allow you to charge the camera while shooting on a tripod – great news for all content creators who don’t like to interrupt the action because of a dead battery.

We are expecting her on July 15th.

Anyway, the date you can mark on your calendar is July 15, when DJI officially unveils its latest action camera. Then, by the end of the month, its smaller siblings, the Osmo Nano and Mic 3, will follow. Until then, don't forget to charge the batteries of your old cameras and pay off your bills for new equipment - the battle for the best 360-degree footage is about to begin.
