Somewhere between "I need a little more space" and "what if I could sleep on top of a volcano," there's a machine called the Liberra. An off-road bus that offers more comfort than many hotels. Now, buckle up... it's the Torsus Praetorian Liberra.
If a classic motorhome isn't enough for you because it can't cross rivers or overcome mountain passes, then let us introduce you to something special: Torsus Praetorian Liberra. A military transporter on the outside, a mobile oasis on the inside. Built on a MAN truck chassis, the colossus knows no compromises. You have a six-cylinder diesel engine with 285 horsepower (210 kW) and a brutal 1,050 Nm of torque (848 lb-ft). Add permanent four-wheel drive, three differentials and a 12-speed automatic transmission and you have the recipe for an unbeatable vehicle.
Interior: rustic zen for four
Inside? Warmth and sophistication. Two separate beds that can be combined into a double bed, an extra bed from the dining bench, a bathroom with a shower, a kitchen with all the equipment - an oven, a refrigerator and a stove. Add 2.2 meters of height and room for four adventurers.
And because an adventure without electricity isn't an adventure, the Liberra has solar panels, 200 Ah lithium batteries, two diesel heaters and air conditioning. And for entertainment, satellite TV and a Marshall Bluetooth speaker are provided. Basically: a cabin with a view. Only this time, this cabin is located in the middle of the desert or by a mountain lake.
What can it do?
- Ground clearance: 35 cm – for comparison: this is more than most SUVs.
- Water crossing ability: 60 cm. We cross the river. No bridge.
- Slopes: up to 60°, with approach angles of 32°–41° – just in case you want to camp in the middle of a rock face.
- Top speed: 105 km/h (65 mph) – just right so you don't spend too long on the highway.
Price and Reality: Torsus Praetorian Liberra
It sounds like a dream, but dreams come at a price: starting at €550,000 (about $635,000). Of course, that’s not a sum you’ll be pulling out of your couch – but for those with serious adventure plans, it’s an investment in absolute freedom. No campsite will ever be good enough. So you have your own.
Conclusion: a vehicle for the end of the world (or a new beginning)
The Torsus Praetorian Liberra is a machine for those looking for more. Not more luxury – that’s enough. More trails, less asphalt roads, more challenges. It’s like a weekend house that drives. And climbs. And floats. And yet it gives you everything you need: warmth, safety and the feeling that you could – if you wanted to – reach the Arctic.
Is it for everyone? Of course not. But if you've ever wondered what it would be like to wake up on the edge of a cliff, drink coffee in the middle of the desert, or cross a roadless forest in the middle of the night – then you know: this is the vehicle for you.
And you - would you go to the end of the world with him? Tell us in the comments!
