Tourist farm Breg

Winter time, a time of short days and long coats, cold weather and hot drinks, skiing and... enjoying the warm sun in the Goriška Brda Mountains. We prefer to head towards Goli Brda, where on steep slopes we find the Breg tourist farm, declared the most beautiful Slovenian tourist farm in 2005. In a pleasant environment and only on weekends, we will get warm, if we manage to make it over the steep asphalt slope, because in front of the farm it will be difficult to find a place for the car, which will have to be left a little lower on the slope. The climb will certainly make us hungry, so we will easily give in to the staff's recommendations, or maybe we will just ask them for a tasting menu that will show us the culinary dimensions of the Goriška Brda Mountains. They will serve us minestrone in various ways, we must definitely try the bruschetta with tomato and homemade prosciutto or bite into a huge gnocchi filled with aromatic herbs. In Breg, they are very consistent in their main courses when it comes to meat flavors, which are prepared with home-grown vegetables. The Brda food tradition is potato cakes, fruit gnocchi or typical Friulian frikas. They will also serve us toč with prosciutto and white polenta, cvrča or goulash with white polenta. If we visit them during the kolin season, Breg will serve us a real markandela with fresh home-made bread. If all this hasn't warmed us up yet, we can ask for one of the spirits...
