2024 Toyota Tacoma: Hybrid power for a legend

The curtains have come down and Japanese automotive titan Toyota has revealed its latest creation: the 2024 Toyota Tacoma. With an all-new hybrid powertrain that delivers a whopping 326 horsepower and a new off-road package, it sounds like something that's everything pick-up drivers want. like to see in your garage.

Toyota Celebrating three decades since its arrival in the US, the Tacoma has long since secured its place as the most popular pickup in its class, despite being the oldest. But Toyota enters 2024 with more innovations than ever before, including a hybrid drivetrain and a new Trailhunter package.

At the heart of this beauty is a turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine with 228 horsepower and 329 Nm of torque, which is mated to a standard eight-speed automatic transmission. There is also a more powerful version of the same turbo engine that offers 270 hp and 420 Nm of torque, along with a six-speed manual transmission. And for those who want something more, there's the Tacoma with an optional hybrid engine that combines 1.9 kWh battery and 48 hp electric motor with 2.4-liter turbo engine, which brings the total power of 326 hp and 630 Nm of torque.


But Toyota doesn't just stop at the powertrain. The new Tacoma also stands out with its tougher, meaner look, with narrow headlights adorning the front bumper and distinctive air vents. Also new is the TNGA-F platform, which uses high-strength steel to increase rigidity and aluminum to reduce weight.

Although it is Toyota Tacoma has lost some pulling power compared to the previous model, but its load capacity is s 771 kg (1,709 pounds) is impressive, which is more than the previous model. This joins a 12.3-inch digital instrument display, while a smaller 7.0-inch display comes as standard. All screens use Toyota's excellent user interface, which was introduced on the Tundra model, and include wireless connectivity with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and Qi wireless phone charging.

Tacoma is also safer than ever because it is Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 standard on all 2024 Tacoma trims. This includes things like a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, lane departure warning with steering assist, adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, traffic sign assist, automatic high beams, and a new Proactive Driving.

In the segment of off-road driving TRD Pro remains the most robust in the family, with additional off-road upgrades. Although the approach, departure and rollover angles are slightly reduced, the new Tacoma adds some new performance-enhancing options. An available option to disconnect the front stabilizer bar improves articulation by 10 percent compared to the previous model, and additional off-road cameras provide an even clearer view of the road ahead.
