Just as everyone has their own painter's eyes, so everyone has their own favorite road. But one of them represents the "wet dream" of many drivers. This is the Romanian Transfagarasan road crossing.
The crossing is only open three months a year, more precisely between July and September. It was built over the years 1970 and 1974 on the orders of a slightly 'crazy' dictator Nicolae Ceausescu. This would enable the rapid movement of the Romanian army across Carpathians, in case of a Russian invasion.
The idea required more than 6000 tons explosives, and by the time the pass was completed it had lost its life 40 people. The road climbs all the way up 2042 meters, and the average speed of travel along it due to bends and inclines is 40 km/h. The beginning of this amazing road is in the village Cartisoara and then get through 90 kilometers winds to its end at the water dam Otter.
Passage Transfagarasan is far from Ljubljana 1176 kilometers, which represents almost 13 hours of driving. If you have time for a few days of adventure, just the path under your feet. There is still an alternative available, air transport to Bucharest and super sports car rental in Romania. Why a supercar? Due to the fact that with such a car you would feel every bit of this desirable asphalt and thus truly experience something unforgettable.
