Upheaval: X has a new owner – Elon Musk surprised (again) – X (Twitter) is now officially owned by someone else

Elon Musk's X is gone - This is what happened!

Elon Musk sold Twitter to himself for $45 billion. But don't panic, it's just a "family reshuffle" among his companies. The goal? To turn X into the world's largest AI platform. X has a new owner!

X has a new owner! Elon Musk is its own platform X (formerly Twitter) has sold its AI startup xAI. The $45 billion deal is anything but an ordinary acquisition: it's a move that could combine the social network's massive reach with advanced artificial intelligence capabilities. Ready for real-time AI trained on tweets?

When Musk sells Twitter to himself: xAI takes over X

Some people start spring with a big clean. Elon Musk started the season this year with a – big takeover. But watch out – for himself.

Musk announced that his artificial intelligence startup, xAI, bought the platform X.com (yes, the former Twitter) for $45 billionBut no, it wasn't just a dollar printer whining in his bank account - it was “all-stock deal”, meaning that X shareholders (read: Musk and a few of his alter egos) will receive shares in xAI instead of cash. X has a new owner!

Why would anyone sell a platform to themselves?

Musk says it's about "bringing together data, models, distribution and talent" - but it's essentially about the merging of two worlds: social networking and artificial intelligenceBecause, honestly, what's more Musk than that?

As he wrote in his post: “This will allow us to build a platform that not only reflects the world, but actively advances it.” (which, let's face it, is a very Musk way of saying "we want more AI, everywhere.")

The Grok was just the beginning

If you've spent the last few months under a rock (or on Facebook), then you might not have noticed that Grok - Musk's alternative to ChatGPT - already deeply integrated into X.comX users have been able to interact with Grok directly within the app for some time, commenting on tweets, asking questions, and most importantly: Grok happily learns from the content on the platform.

Now Grok will have official status. With the integration of xAI and X, it promises to be a real AI-imperial toolwhich:

  • It has access to billions of tweets (who are, as they say at xAI, “surprisingly intelligent”),
  • Can offer real-time AI responsesbecause it has access to the latest news and events,
  • And, perhaps most importantly – in the hands of one man.

Platform X: From social network to AI superapp

Now it's clear why this "family restructuring" was necessary. X is no longer just a place for memeification, celebrity beefs, and conspiracy theories. Musk wants to transform it into something much bigger: the largest platform for the use of artificial intelligence in the world.

In other words: X will now social network, news aggregator, real-time AI platform, productivity tool and probably something else we can't even imagine yet.

And because the AI model will be trained on millions of tweets from – ahem – intelligent users, it may happen that over time Grok will understand internet references better than the average Reddit user. Which, honestly, is no small feat.

What about privacy? Ah, that...

Naturally, the internet got a bit excited about this news (which is to be expected, considering this is the internet). Many users wondered: Does this mean that Musk has now “sold” our data to himself?

The answer is: yes, but with love.

It's not formally a data sale, but when companies merge, databases often merge. And with xAI now having access to all those smart, witty, and confusing tweets, we can imagine Grok becoming much more "human" than its competition.

xAI + X = 80 billion reasons for dominance

The total value of the combined entity is estimated at 80 billion dollars, which is not bad for a company that was competing with Dogecoin memes just yesterday. But Musk has a vision – and it’s not just “free speech” anymore, but global dominance in the world of artificial intelligence.

Will others follow? OpenAI, Meta, Google DeepMind – your move.

Finally? X has a new owner!

If you've had enough so far, buckle up. Musk takes us on a ride where the goal is - a perfect symbiosis between humans, tweets, and artificial intelligence.

And in this future, every meme can be a source of knowledge. Every tweet – a learning unit. Every user – a potential co-author of the next language of the future.

Twitter? Sorry, X. Now you're the future.
