The exhibition shows in a modern way all three French occupations of our regions (1797, 1805-06 and 1809-13), and its main focus is on the presentation of the Illyrian provinces - the almost four-year French "interregnum", which, by introducing the gains of modern bourgeois society, greatly cut into the Slovenian national consciousness and historical memory of the nation. The rich and varied exhibition material of Slovenian and French museums, galleries, archives and libraries bears witness to the economic, social and social conditions in this turning point in Slovenia, when the bourgeoisie began to assume a leading role in society. The museum-archive exhibition is being prepared by the National Museum of Slovenia together with the Archives of the Republic of Slovenia and the War Museum in Paris.
Author of the exhibition: mag. Jože Podpečnik, co-author: dr. Janez Šumrada, Marijan Rafael Loboda.
The exhibition will be on display until February 28, 2010!
