Vacheron Constantin Overseas Perpetual Calendar Ultra-Thin: burgundy or pink gold for the 270th anniversary

Two new models in white and rose gold

Vacheron Constantin celebrates 270 years with two fresh interpretations of its thinnest sports perpetual calendar. The Overseas Perpetual Calendar Ultra-Thin comes in white gold with a burgundy lacquered dial or in pink gold with a tone-on-tone gold dial. The case measures just 8.1 mm in height and is powered by the ultra-thin caliber 1120 QP/1 – a watchmaking origami that will correctly display the date until the year 2100. Both models are boutique exclusives and come with two rubber straps.

Overseas QP Ultra-Thin has been the “silent genius” of sporty-elegant bracelets for years: integrated design, excellent cutting and a complication that elegantly ignores the lengths of the months. For its 270th anniversary, the manufacture is adding two color interpretations: white gold with a deep burgundy lacquer and rose gold in a completely gold tone. Same architecture, new expression – and obviously a significantly slimmer silhouette than most of its competitors.

What's new: burgundy vs. pink-on-pink

The duo follows a simple logic of choice: contrast or total glam. The white gold reference 4300V/220G‑H151 gets a burgundy lacquered dial with sunburst; the rose gold 4300V/220R‑H144 gets a tone-on-tone gold lacquer. Both models retain the recognizable shape of the moon phase at six, and blue accents that enliven the five-minute scale and leap year display. It’s a subtle but distinctive signature of the series.

The dimensions remain unchanged: 41.5 mm in diameter and only 8.1 mm thick, with a water resistance of 50 m and anti-magnetic protection (soft iron insert). Modest numbers on paper, but neat elegance on the wrist.

Ultra-thin technique: Caliber 1120 QP/1

At the heart of the story is the 1120 QP/1 – an automatic ultra-thin movement with a 40-hour power reserve and a frequency of 2.75 Hz, just 4.05 mm thick (29.6 mm diameter). It provides hours, minutes, moon phase and a perpetual calendar with day, date, month and leap year via a 48-month indicator. All this under the Poinçon de Genève seal.

The architecture of the 1120 is derived from the historic JLC 920 calibre from 1967 – now entirely manufactured “in-house” in Geneva. It is a fine example of how history and modern standards merge into a mechanism that pushes the boundaries of thickness without sacrificing aesthetics.

Overseas Ergonomics: Quick Change, Micro-Adjustment and Strap Pack

Both models are boutique exclusives and come standard on a matching gold bracelet. Two rubber straps are included in the box: burgundy and white for the white gold, and navy blue and white for the rose gold. The quick-release system allows for tool-free replacement, and the clasp on the metal bracelet has a discreet micro-expansion for a fine fit. The rubber straps are equipped with a matching metal (ardillon) buckle in the color of the case. Everyday usability in a luxurious outfit.

Thinner than the “holy couple”: context between rivals

8.1 mm height is not just a brochure number – Overseas QP Ultra‑Thin is thinner from the Patek Philippe Nautilus with perpetual calendar (8.42 mm) and from the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Selfwinding Perpetual Calendar (approx. 9.5 mm). In the sporty-elegant class, this means that the watch not only hides better under the cuff, but also looks even more elegant.

A display that lasts until 2100 – with some honest transparency

The perpetual calendar in the 1120 QP/1 calculates the lengths of months and leap years until 2100, when manual correction will be required due to the Gregorian exception. The lunar calendar uses a 59-tooth disc – a classic solution that will require periodic calibration at multi-year intervals (rather than the ultra-precise 135-tooth systems). This is a consciously chosen compromise of the ultra-thin architecture.

Why this matters (and why right now)

The Overseas QP Ultra-Thin is one of those products where the technology is not loud – but it is stubbornly present: an ultra-thin mechanism, anti-magnetic protection, 50m water resistance and modular ergonomics (quick change, micro-adjustment). With this pair, Vacheron continues the jubilee rhythm of 2025, in which it expanded the Overseas to extremely complex versions. If you are reading this with red-tinged excitement – you are not alone.

Short verdict

This is not a new platform, but a “colorway” with a very real effect: burgundy adds theatricality to white gold, and pink-on-pink adds retro warmth to pink. Anyone who wants an ultra-thin QP that is a shade sportier than the “classic” suits has a very clear choice this year. Also because it is thinner than the most obvious competitors and more friendly to everyday life thanks to the ergonomics of the bracelet and strap system.
