When to Valencia?

If you want to avoid the tourist crowds that flood the city during the summer months, then hop on a plane April or May. The weather at that time is pleasantly sunny and warm, and the sea is also suitable for a few swings. Nevertheless, Valencia is one of the cities worth visiting in all seasons. As early as February, you will be able to admire the blossoming almond and orange trees, and in late spring and summer you will have fun at the many local festivals. What should I see in Valencia?

The most impressive part of Valencia, captured in countless photographs, is the architecture project City of Arts and Sciences. The city of science and art offers a range of activities for those who visit it, but it can also be admired from the outside. As part of the complex, you can find the opera, as well as the largest interactive museums aquarium in Europe. The latter is home to more than 45,000 animals and as many as 500 animal species. The entire complex is the work of the famous architect Santiago Calatrava, who was born in Valencia and has become an unmissable icon of the city. It is no less stunning cathedral in Valencia, which is a mixture of Romanesque, Baroque and Gothic. If you climb the 207 steps to the top, you will have a wonderful view of the city.

Lovers of good food and delicious Spanish cuisine should not miss the central market, where Mediterranean ingredients and local flavors and spices abound. Mercado Central is the largest market with fresh products in Europe, and you can find it in an interesting modernist building in the city center. Lovers of sandy beaches, which are not lacking in this area, will also come to their own expense in Valencia. The city's Playa de la Malvarrosa beach is absolutely huge and stretches for miles.

How to explore Valencia?

The best way to get around the city is the subway, which takes you all the way to the airport. Where the metro network thins out, local buses will also help you. A large part of the city can also be explored on foot or by bicycle, which, in addition to public transport, is the basis of the city's sustainable approach to transport. In the fall, Valencia even earned European recognition for its sustainable aspiration.
