Vegedrom, a slightly special restaurant, awaits us just away from the hustle and bustle of Celovška Street in Ljubljana. In a relaxed atmosphere, a mixture of Slovenian homeliness and Indian decoration, we find a modern culinary offer that adheres to all the principles of healthy eating. As the name of the restaurant suggests, we will not find meat in Vegedrom. All ingredients are carefully selected by owner Tanja Ukmar and biovegan nutrition expert Mateja Tea Dereani, author of the first Slovenian vegan cookbook. The dishes are prepared by Indian and local chefs, and we are offered a variety of snacks, soups, risottos, seitan (wheat meat), tofu, vegetables from the wok, cereals and pulses, as well as various Indian dishes prepared in the tandoor, a traditional Indian oven. We choose a salad from the salad bar, but since the meal is not complete without a sweet ending, we are happy to treat ourselves to a delicious organic dessert. When choosing a dish, you can indulge in the daily offer of a vegetarian or Indian lunch, and we also have a menu that will inspire even the most demanding vegan health eaters to order, so that they don't leave their mouths hungry. At Vegedrom, we also offer bio-vegan dishes that do not contain preservatives (potatoes, peppers, tomatoes, eggplants) and are prepared from organically grown ingredients. Vegedrom adheres to the same principles when it comes to drinks, which is why they use water purified by reverse osmosis for both hot drinks and food preparation, while those who are thirsty are catered for with a wide selection of freshly squeezed and sugar-free juices, organic drinks and teas.
