Villa Ulmus is the work of renowned designer Boris Ružić, who skilfully combined traditional Istrian architecture with modern trends. You can find it in the Istrian village of Karojba, not far from the Motovun forests.
Villa Ulmus, whose name itself hints at the presence of a tree, stands not far from a hundred-year-old elm that has been proudly growing into the sky for years. It was this to a large extent that inspired the image of the modern villa, which connects with the surrounding nature. It is a wonderful mixture of tradition, nature, modern housing culture and architecture, all in a single project.
When designing the villa, architect Boris Ružić relied on the surrounding wooden elements of the landscape, found in Istrian olive groves and vineyards. The main elements are taken from traditional Istrian architecture, everything from the shade of the stones to the use of other natural materials. Two cubes were created, connected by a square atrium, in which the main entrance to the villa is designed. The architect dedicated each of the cubes to its function, the left one is intended for socializing, and the right one for sleeping areas. In the first, we find a kitchen, a dining room, a living room, which are complemented by a high sense of aesthetics and space. The room is illuminated on one side by a giant glazed wall, which overlooks the large free outdoor swimming pool, and in the summer months, the living room extends onto the terrace.
Two bedrooms with lots of natural light have been placed in the right cube, where you wake up in the morning with a view of the surrounding nature. The interior is distinguished by the harmony of calm contrasts and the choice of neutral color tones, which complement the textiles nicely. In the interior, the architect placed many wooden and metal elements, which he upgraded with designer furniture pieces and accessories. The floor is covered with rustic parquet. The bathroom is also dominated by earthy colors, which are complemented by oak wood furniture.
Villa Ulmus it is characterized by a symbiotic connection with the outside, which is most noticeable in the living room, which opens onto the terrace. In the summer months, the living room extends all the way to the summer kitchen and allows for outdoor socializing. The villa is surrounded by a large green garden with a view of the surrounding Motovun forests, so it is truly a great place for relaxation and a peaceful vacation.
The villa is 27 kilometers from Poreč, and boasts two bedrooms and as many as three bathrooms. The villa also has a TV, which may come in handy in case of bad weather. Culinary enthusiasts will be happy with the fully equipped kitchen, and in the evenings you can relax in the massage pool.
