Existing parking lots, especially those in block settlements, will be a big challenge in the age of electric cars.
It is almost impossible to guarantee all parking spaces electrical filling stations, and a lot will be needed in the future ingenuity. We will have to see what the future will bring and what technology will be available then, but for the meantime they are here to Volkswagen got an interesting idea. They will send to the existing parking lots autonomous robots, who will drag behind them portable 'batteries' and thus enable the charging of electric cars. The fully autonomous robot is equipped with cameras, lidar and ultrasonic sensors. We will refer him to the car with application, and then the robot itself will communicate with the car and connect a portable battery with capacity to it 25 kWh.
After charging starts, the battery remains connected to the car, and the robot will focus to another car. It will be a robot returned the battery to the charging point when it is empty or when the car is finished charging. At the moment, the Volkswagen robot is only a prototype and an idea, but when it will become a reality depends on those responsible at the German automobile concern.
