Sales of Volvo vehicles equipped with automatic braking systems have reached the one million mark – a new milestone confirming Volvo's global leadership in automotive safety.
Volvo's automatic braking technology includes a number of world-first features: City Safety, which is standard and operates at speeds of up to 50 km/h, collision warning with automatic braking and pedestrian and cyclist detection with automatic braking. And how does the technology work? With the standard City Safety function, the vehicle brakes automatically if we do not react when the vehicle in front suddenly slows down or stops.
Pedestrian and cyclist detection with automatic braking detects pedestrians walking on the road and cyclists in front of the vehicle, warns us and brakes automatically. Collision Warning with automatic braking is active at all speeds and helps avoid collisions if there is only a speed difference of 35 km/h or less. The brakes are thus activated automatically if a warning is not responded to when a collision with the vehicle in front is unavoidable. Safe and convenient, right?
