FOR A SLOVENIAN TASTE We recommend the Vovka inn especially to lovers of Slovenian cuisine, but lovers of international and Yugoslav cuisine will also find something for themselves in this family-run inn. The inn, which can be found on the Novo Mesto-Šentjernej road, is visited during the week mainly by businessmen, employees and workers of private and state-owned companies from Novo Mesto and the surrounding area, and at the weekend by other nature lovers, travelers and families who treat themselves to a delicious Sunday lunch here. The feeling of homeliness and the pulse of rural life are given to the inn by the locals, who are their everyday guests. The pleasant atmosphere with a touch of homeliness welcomes everyone who, in addition to an excellent meal and a quality drink, also wants to see a cultural event or an exhibition of paintings by Slovenian authors. The inn has one hundred seats indoors and 30 seats on the covered summer terrace. What do they offer you? In addition to the classic dishes available all year round, in the summer you will be served grilled dishes, for which the inn is famous, and in the autumn and winter they prepare homemade koline and typical Slovenian dishes. What will you be served in the spring? As the chefs have assured, newly discovered recipes are on the menu then, so let yourself be surprised. You will also find venison in the daily menu. For lovers of good wines, in addition to bottled wine from renowned Slovenian wine cellars, they also offer their own wines produced on Tolsti Vrh. Of course, the choice cannot be without Cviček, a specialty of Dolenjska. Where are they? If you drive along the Ljubljana-Zagreb road, from where you turn towards Otočec, drive past the castle and the campsite and through the forest to Ratež.
