This time we present to you 10 modern films that are actually "remakes" or new versions of already made films. There are some movies on the list that you probably didn't expect.

10. 13 Assassins (2011)

Japanese director Takashi Miike took inspiration from the 1963 blockbuster of the same name, directed by Eiichi Kudo, for the 2011 film. In it, we follow a group of samurai who use their skills to plan the fall of the leader Naritsugu.

9. True Grit (2010)

The aging US Marshal Rooster Cogburn was portrayed by John Wayne in the 1969 adventure drama True Courage. He was succeeded by Jeff Bridges in 2010.

8. Let Me In (2010)

Let The Right One In is based on the Swedish film Let The Right One in, 2008. The story follows 12-year-old Owen, whose life changes with the arrival of a mysterious girl, Abby, who also brings a series of gruesome murders to town.

7. 3:10 to Yuma (3:10 to Yuma, 2007)


The modern rendition of 3:10 for Yuma hit the big screen 50 years after its original. Dan Evans, whose farm is threatened with foreclosure due to the drought, decides to join the sheriff's men who want to bring the criminal to justice in Yuma after the infamous robber Ben is arrested.

6. Double Play (The Departed, 2006)

Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon and Jack Nicholson tried out for the lead roles in the tense story about two policemen caught up in fraud. Martin Scorsese is responsible for the adaptation of the Hong Kong film Internal Affairs (2002).

5. King Kong (King Kong, 2005)

The first film about the mighty gorilla came to American cinemas way back in 1933. Its modern version, in which director Peter Jackson played with advanced technology, was released 72 years later.

4. The Manchurian Candidate (2004)

Jonathan Demme adapted the Cold War political thriller directed by John Frankenheimer in 1962. Denzel Washington replaced Frank Sinatra as Captain Marc.

3. Freaky Friday (2003)

The 2003 comedy Friday is basically a modern version of the film of the same name, which was released in 1976. The story follows Tess and her 15-year-old daughter Anna, who do their laundry one Thursday like never before, and wake up the next morning in switched bodies.

2. Insomnia (Insomnia, 2002)

Christopher Nolan's blockbuster follows Los Angeles detectives who must investigate the murder of a 17-year-old girl. It is significantly different from the Norwegian film of the same name from 1997 in some points, but the similarities between the works cannot be denied.

1. Ocean's Eleven (Ocean's Eleven, 2001)

The action of Ocean's 11 from 1960 waited 41 years for a modern adaptation. The central figure of both films is Danny Ocean, who plans a complex robbery of Las Vegas casinos, in which he is joined by 11 chosen ones.
