Nutella + ice cream = perfect indulgence? We tried the viral Nutella ice cream and found out if it's really worth 10 euros or just well-packaged hype.
Although Nutella It has been instilling in us feelings of comfort, warmth and pleasant addiction since childhood, and its new frozen version has created a real mini sensation on the TikTok and Instagram. Ice cream with the Nutella logo is said to be the new holy grail for sweet tooths. Nutella ice cream looks like it will be a HIT this summer. But is it really? We tried it and this is our summer truth, without filters and with a touch of (ice cream) irony.
Shelf-ready (and selfie) packaging
First impression? The packaging looks like a cross between a Ferrari cosmetics line and gourmet luxury. A cardboard cap, under it a silver foil with the inscription "Wait 10 min". How well-mannered we are that even ice cream requires patience from us! But okay, if Nutella says so, we'll listen.
Cream, chocolate, some more cream and... boom!
When you open the container, you are hit with the smell of real cocoa and hazelnuts. No artificial “Nutella like” substitute, but the real thing. Texture? Creamy like French crème, with swirling ribbons of pure Nutella that melt like poetry in your mouth. The ice cream has two layers: a slightly crunchy Nutella crust on top, a soft, rich milk base on the bottom. Sinfully good.
Taste: sweet, rich, almost too much
Here, however, we were a bit divided in our editorial team. Some swore that it was almost a sin in a pot, while others thought that they would still add a touch of bitterness for contrast. But the common denominator? Quality. This is not the “soft ice cream” from the vending machine in front of Mercator. This is Nutella, which has graduated to become an Italian confectionery goddess.
Price: ouch!
And now, the question we all ask ourselves when we get to the checkout: is €6 for 230g of ice cream really too much? The answer: it depends. If you're a Nutella fanatic and want something special for a Sunday afternoon or a Tinder date, then yes, go for it. But as a weekly pampering ritual? Probably not. The portion is enough for 2-3 sweet moments, if you're not exactly in the "eat all the ice cream after a breakup" mood.
Conclusion: a hedonistic experience, with a caveat
Nutella ice cream is, without a doubt, the ultimate sweet treat. It's not only Instagram friendly, but it also has a content value: the taste, the texture, and that touch of nostalgia that takes us back to our childhood – only this time with a grown-up price and a sophisticated approach. Will we buy it again? Yes, but only when we already have a holiday booked on the Amalfi Coast and are craving a dessert that we can post with #treatyourself.
