What Euro NCAP didn't say about the new Tesla Model 3 (2025) – but it should have said it louder

Security points that set new standards

The Tesla Model 3 has been around for a long time – and while it seems like we know everything about it, the latest 2025 version has surprised us again. This time with a perfect safety rating in the 2025 NCAP test.

Tesla Model 3 has become synonymous with modern electric mobility over the past decade. In many ways, it has defined the class electric limousines: minimalist interior, digital approach to all functions and solid performance. Now it has also gained official proof that it can also take care of safety.

On tests Euro NCAP awarded the 2025 model the maximum 5 stars, which is an achievement that is not difficult to find in this class – but the way Tesla got there is certainly interesting.

Realistic comparison: numbers speak louder than slogans

Model EV Adults Children Vulnerable Help Rating
Model 3 90% 93% 89% 87% ★★★★★
BMW i4 87% 87% 71% 73% ★★★★★
Polestar 2 93% 89% 80% 86% ★★★★★
Ioniq 6 97% 87% 66% 90% ★★★★★
VW ID.7 95% 88% 83% 85% ★★★★★

The Tesla Model 3 isn't an absolute champion in any single category, but it shines in consistency. Its numbers show steady excellence without major weaknesses – which is a rarity in itself.

Technologies that actually mean something

The new safety features that receive the most attention are: an active pedestrian protection cover, an AEB system that now also detects motorcyclists, and a child left alone detection function. All of this sounds good, but it works even better in practice, as these are solutions that upgrade everyday safety in real-world situations.

It's worth noting that Tesla is one of the few brands that consistently updates safety features via OTA (over-the-air) upgrades – meaning the 2025 Model 3 isn't necessarily at the peak of its capabilities yet. It could still get better.

Conclusion: Realistically speaking – a very good buy, but not without competition

The Tesla Model 3 2025 is in many ways a mature choice: design-proven, technologically advanced, and now officially certified safe. It's no longer the "hip" novelty, but a solid, established electric sedan that offers a balance between price, performance, and technology.

The price starts at around €39,000, which puts it at the bottom of the class – cheaper than the Ioniq 6, and significantly cheaper than the BMW i4. However, in terms of equipment, user experience and consistent efficiency, it still ranks at the very top of the segment.

Although the competition hasn't fallen asleep - the Polestar 2 offers better craftsmanship, the Hyundai Ioniq 6 is more comfortable, and the BMW i4 is more dynamically convincing - the Tesla Model 3 remains the golden mean. And now it also has the safety stamp to confirm it. It is worth noting - that it has it again. The previous generation was considered equally safe.
