Blood groups are different ways of classifying blood cells based on their antigens located on the cell membrane. Antigens are substances that can trigger an immune response in the body, which means that the body can react by producing antibodies against certain antigens. In the event that a person receives a transfusion of blood that is not compatible with their blood type, adverse effects can occur, including death.

There are several different classification systems blood groups, but are the most famous and important ABO system, which classifies blood groups based on the presence or absence of antigens A and B on the cell membrane of red blood cells.

There are two main blood types: blood type A and blood type B, but there is also blood type AB, which has both A and B antigens, and blood type 0, which has neither of these antigens.

According to the research people with blood types A, B and AB have higher levels of Willebrand factor and factor VIII proteins, which increase the risk of heart disease for 15% compared to individuals with blood type 0. However, this does not mean that people with blood type 0 are more protected.

Blood type 0 can cause fertility problems as this blood group is twice as likely to produce FSH, indicating low ovarian reserve. In addition, people with blood types A, B and AB are at a higher risk of stomach cancer, as the inflammatory response to the bacterium H. pylori, which is responsible for stomach ulcers, occurs more often in these blood types.

People with blood types A, B and AB

They have a higher risk of developing deep vein thrombosis, which occurs deep in the veins of the legs, groin or arms, as they have a different blood clotting system compared to blood type 0. In addition, the risk of memory loss is greatest in individuals with blood type AB, as they have higher levels of factor VIII, which is involved in the blood clotting process.

Research shows that individuals with AB blood type are 82 percent more likely to develop cognitive problems in the future than others. This is because they have higher levels of factor VIII, a protein involved in the blood clotting process.

Blood type A or B and risk of type 2 diabetes

People with blood type A or B have a 21 percent higher lifetime risk of developing type 2 diabetes. Researchers say they are not entirely sure why this is, but one theory is that blood type may affect the microbiome of the digestive tract. thereby possibly affecting glucose metabolism and the development of inflammation.

Blood type and attraction to mosquitoes

People with blood type 0 are twice as likely to be targeted by mosquitoes. This may be due to the fact that people with this blood type have higher levels of certain chemical compounds in their sweat that are attractive to mosquitoes. However, people with this blood type have the least chance of contracting the deadliest form of malaria, the mosquito-borne disease.

Resistance to stress

Cortisol (stress hormone) levels are higher in people with blood type 0 than others, which means that they are more affected by stress.

Blood type A is most prone to OCD A study published in the journal Neuropsychobiology found that people with blood type A are more likely to develop obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) in behavior. Experts have also found a connection between this blood type and perseverance and diligence despite fatigue and frustration.
