The open kitchen is considered a central social event in the capital and one of its most recognizable tourist attractions, at which more than 300 dining establishments from all over the country have presented themselves so far. "When we look back as we prepare for the new season, we can hardly believe how important Open Kitchen has influenced many areas of life. It marked social life in the capital, revitalized a long unused part of the city center, created a new concept for the organization of sustainable projects, created a wonderful community and reminded visitors that they deserve to enjoy good food and drink in great company at the weekend," summed up the impressions of the co-founders Alma and Lior Kochavy open kitchens.

During the years of its operation, Optrta kuhna managed to completely change the perception and attitude towards cuisine, as well as catering as a business. That's how stuffed peppers, roasted liver, štruklji and šmorn moved from our grandmothers' kitchens to the street and became real "street food". The people of Ljubljana got to know dödola and clobber noodles, and exotic street food from Africa, Asia, South America and the Middle East brought Koper, Nova Gorica, Ptuj, Celje, Vipava and Slovenj Gradec closer to the world's metropolises during Open Kitchen tours. Top chefs have stepped out of their restaurants onto the markets, young and driven chefs have become Michelin stars, small entrepreneurs have built catering companies in the midst of the economic recession, which today employ a large number of people, and tourists from all over the world have started planning their visit to Ljubljana around visits to the Open Kitchen.

"Every time I see a child curiously trying something new at the Open Kitchen, a retired couple who came to try Indian rolls, or a group of friends who collect a bunch of different plates and share the goodies. I am proud that we succeeded in igniting people's curiosity and breaking down certain boundaries in the way of experiencing food and enjoying it. If food connects us at home, why not on the street, in the city, in the community? We need this - more than ever," said Lior Kochavy.
