If we thought we would rest on the first weekend of the year, we were very wrong. It's supposed to be more relaxed and laid-back than last month, but now it's time to start making good on promises and see where to go this weekend to soak up some sun, activity and the first memorable adventures of the year.
Friday
While we already saw the living nativity scene in Mojstrana and Postojna Cave during the December weekends, this time we can go up to the Ljubljana Castle, where this unforgettable ancient story will come to life every day between January 2 and 6 at 17, 18 and 7 p.m. If we stay in the capital, we can sunbathe at Zeleni Sunc 89: Eastern Madness in Gali Hala on Metelkova, where Papa Zura from Poland will entertain us in addition to the local gramophone company. Those who would rather experience something extraordinary can join the hike under the full moon at the Vogel ski resort, which starts at 20:15 at the lower station of the Vogel swing in Ukanec.
Saturday
Villa Podvin in Radovljica is opening its doors to the Podvin Market, where from 10 a.m. you can taste and buy products from Slovenian culinary artists. After browsing for goodies, two hours later we are invited to a wonderful lunch made of ingredients from the market.
They will ensure that 2015 will be a truly rocking year in the Sovodenj Cultural Hall, where we will celebrate Rock n Nov Lit 10 with an AC/DC cover band, Iron Median and Banditi, and in the Lent festival hall in the Styrian capital, we can dance to the New Year's dance with the band Black And White.
Sunday
Sunday will be perfect for cross-country skiing. Let's drive to Pokljuka or Kranjska Gora and stretch our limbs early in the morning. The afternoon will be reserved for the theater. SNG Opera and Ballet Ljubljana will perform the exceptional ballet The Nutcracker - A Christmas Story at 4 p.m., and an hour later, we and the children are invited to the Ljubljana Castle, where we can see the play The Frog King, a story about a princess and a frog.
In the evening, where else but to the cinema! On New Year's Eve, the premiere saw movie treats - epic drama Indomitable and a biopic of Mr. Turner. The cinema at the weekend is definitely the most suitable movie start of the year.
