In the heart of the Goriška Brda Mountains, in the village of Medana, lies the Belica homestead, where they pamper us with home-made Brda cuisine that adapts to the modern way of eating. In their own ham shop, they make and mature their own prosciutto and other meats, in their own vinegar shop they produce olive oil and vinegar, and every day we are greeted by freshly baked buns, homemade gnocchi and noodles, and homemade wine. And when all this comes together in interestingly prepared dishes, the pampering of our taste buds is complete. For lunch, they prepare beetroot noodles in spinach sauce, polenta with smoked goat cheese, noodles with prosciutto and mushrooms, pancetta on puree, frtalje with white polenta, noodles with zucchini and hazelnuts, minestrone, yellow pumpkin gnocchi, fried prosciutto with white polenta, homemade pork knuckles, and much more. At the homestead, they make even the simplest dish interesting and special. Noodles with eggplant are prepared by mixing the noodles with stewed vegetables and wrapping everything lightly in strips of eggplant, previously grilled. Finally, there should be room for one of the desserts of the housewife, whether it is tiramisu, panna cotta, apple strudel, pie made from seasonal fruit or strjenka. Many people feel so good and at home at the Belica homestead that they would like to stay for another day or two. For those, they offer accommodation in eight rooms and two apartments. In the morning, they will surprise us with breakfast, where prosciutto is sliced before our eyes and where there is no shortage of homemade cheese, cottage cheese, jam and fruit. We can actively use the day ahead for horse riding, playing golf, fishing and cycling, or simply enjoy the homestead, refresh ourselves in the pool in the warmer months and look forward to the next meal, which will definitely bring a surprise.
