We are only a few days away from the most prestigious award ceremony and Hollywood has already been gripped by Oscar fever. This year's nominees for the main female role are certainly also highly anticipated.
The awards season will reach its climax in Monday, March 3, when the Oscars will finally come to their account. There were a few surprises in the leading male and female lead categories this year, as well as some of the nominations we all expected. She found herself among the female nominees again Amy Adams, who impressed with her role in the film American scams (more about the film at the link). It's a movie by David O. Russell, which boasts an excellent cast, and therefore the Oscar nomination is no surprise. Amy plays con artist Sydney Prosser in the film, otherwise this is the fifth nomination for the actress. In the past years, she has already been nominated four times in the category for the best female supporting role, but she has not yet managed to win the golden statuette.
In the category for the best female role, she is also joined by an actress Cate Blanchett, who impressed with her performance in the film Island Jasmine (more about the film Sad Jasmine). In the drama, Cate portrayed Jasmine, a formerly wealthy woman who, after a failed marriage, must move in with her poor sister in order to put her life back together. This is for Cate, who won Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture in 2004 Aviator, the sixth nomination.
This year's next nominee for the leading female role is Sandra Bullock, which won its first Oscar in 2009, namely for the film The Blind Side. This year, her role in the film brought her a nomination Gravity (more about the movie Gravity), in which Sandra plays medical engineer Ryan Stone who gets stranded in space during her first mission. Although the story of the film itself is very simple, the filming was very tiring and Sandra had a difficult task, as she is accompanied in the film by only George Clooney.
Judi Dench convinced the film academy with her performance in the film Philomena (more about the movie Philomena), a drama about a former BBC journalist. Philomena is an elderly lady who, many years later, is still searching for her lost son, whom she was forced to give up for adoption. The winner of one Oscar, Judi Dench, has been nominated for an Oscar this time for the seventh time, the last time she competed for it eight years ago.
Meryl Streep she is an old friend of the Oscars, as she has been nominated eighteen times and won the golden statuette three times. Three years ago, she took home the award for leading female role in a film The Iron Lady, in which she portrayed Margaret Thatcher, we will find out on Sunday whether she will celebrate again this year. In the movie August: Osage County Meryl played the role of Violet Weston, a mother of three daughters who return home for their father's funeral.
