After reading this, you'll never throw eggshells in the trash again!

Oh, what a shame it is to throw eggshells in the trash... Because they can be used for various things and some of them will surely surprise you!

Eggshells consist of as much as 90 percent calcium, which the human body needs for bones, teeth, as well as nerves and muscles. Of course, we won't eat eggshells (at least not in their primary form), but they can be used in many other ways!

How to eat eggshells?

Eggshells are healthy, at least according to the US National Institutes of Health. Namely, they have carried out numerous researches on ground shells into powder. The result is the following: eggshell powder can be very well absorbed by the human body and is said to have many positive effects. As it contains a lot of calcium, it is good for our bones and the production of healthy blood cells. In addition, it is said to help lower cholesterol and blood pressure.

Does this mean we grind up the eggshells and eat them? No, this is not recommended. If you manage to grind them in a multi-purpose food processor (or some other blender) perfectly fine powder, then you can e.g. added to food as an additional source of calcium. Before using the shells, cook for at least 15 minutes, to kill potentially harmful bacteria. Let them cool, then grind them into a really fine powder. Store them in an airtight container.

Although you can take this powder in a glass of water (half a teaspoon per glass of water), it will not taste very good. So rather experiment by adding the powder to some fine smoothie or fruit puree.

You can also add a little ground eggshell coffee. In addition to getting a good dose of calcium, she will make coffee less bitter, but also creamier! Make sure the shell is pre really well heat treated (you can also put the eggshells on a baking tray and bake them for 10 minutes at 180 degrees Celsius) to kill any bacteria.

Eggshells can only be consumed if they are previously heat-treated and then ground into a fine powder.

Other uses of eggshell

Removing burnt food

Forget the anger you experience when you see cooked food in pans and pots. By crushing the eggshells in a pan, adding some salt and hot water, you will simply clean the burnt food with the help of a sponge. The dish will be like new!

Fertilizer

Eggshells are full of calcium carbonate, which is good for plants. Dry the peels and grind them into powder. Store it in a glass container that is always at hand. Mix the powder with a little potting soil and add it where needed.

For sharper blades in a mixer (multi-purpose mixer)

Grinding the blades in a mixer using the classic technique is almost impossible. Fortunately, this can be easily solved with an eggshell. Simply put some shells in the freezer for half an hour and then in the blender. Add a little water and turn it on. The blades will be sharp again.

Now that our brains are full of information about the ingenious uses of eggshells, let's add that researchers at Ohio State University have discovered that eggshells could be crucial for the production affordable hydrogen fuel. We have already heard of the phrase "walking on eggs", maybe in the future we will also ride on them.
