Why do Louboutins have red soles?

From catwalks to sidewalks, Christian Louboutin is the name that defines glamorous footwear for women around the world. The famous designer has occupied women's heads for more than two decades, and his high heels with red soles can also be seen in popular culture - everything from hip hop divas to lively female characters in the TV series Sex and the City. These are shoes that reflect not only a fat wallet, but also a state of mind. Have you ever wondered why the soles of these 'louboutinks' are red? Well, there's a pretty interesting story behind it, which is more of a coincidence than a design.

Christian Louboutin opened his first boutique in 1991 in Paris. At that time, he dreamed that one day he would open at least one boutique in New York as well. Today he has an empire 93 stores, and sells almost a million pairs of shoes a year.

And why do they have his sky high heels red soles? Well, that was more of a coincidence than part of the design. In 1993, when Christian Louboutin had already been in business for two years, he made a prototype of shoes for which he sought inspiration in The Warhols masterpieces Flowers. The prototype of the shoes with a pink heel and a colorful pink dress arrived from Italy. Louboutin was happy with the shoes, because they were quite similar to the drawing, but still they did not express the same power. And that's when, thank God, an assistant happened to be there painted her nails with red nail polish. Christian thus took the polish and with it painted the sole of the prototype. That's when the shoes finally came out the way they should. And today it adorns all Louboutins red sole.
Interesting how one such success story can start with a small bottle of nail polish, isn't it?
