The Porsche 918 Spyder will make its world premiere at this year's International Motor Show (IAA) in Frankfurt. The super sports plug-in hybrid opens a new chapter in the production of sports cars.
Namely, no sports vehicle designed for everyday use has been able to boast of such superior dynamic driving performance and at the same time fuel consumption at the level of compact vehicles. The 918 Spyder therefore has a similar pioneering role as the 911, which debuted at the Frankfurt Motor Show half a century ago.
Porsche genetics
The 918 Spyder is an interpretation of the traditional Porsche genetic code in an innovative sports car concept. This model, which was conceived as a high-performance hybrid already on the drawing board, uniquely combines the outstanding power of a supercar (652 kW/887 hp) and the almost inaudible driving of an electric vehicle. Thus, it accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.8 seconds and achieves a standard fuel consumption of 3.0 to 3.3 l/100 km. The design of the 918 Spyder also allows for a harmonious combination of an internal combustion engine and an electric motor. The result – even better driving dynamics.
One of the first to have the honor of testing the 918 was Jay Leno himself, who is known to be a car enthusiast. Watch the video contribution.
