If you also have enough to pack, Japan Airlines offers you an unusual (good) solution.
A Japanese airline Japan Airlines has recently introduced an offer written on the skin of all those who have enough packing before their trip. The initiative called "Any Wear, Anywhere" allows passengers on planes of the aforementioned company to rent sets of clothes for the duration of their stay in Japan. In this way, they wanted to optimize their travels at the airline passengers, and the program will be implemented on a test basis until August 2024.
Although it will seem like a great solution for anyone with enough packing, this is not the original goal of the campaign. With the project, the airline wanted to reduce the weight of the planes, and consequently also reduce the company's carbon footprint.
"After the Covid-19 pandemic, the demand for flights has increased again, with an emphasis on sustainability, which is why the desire for sustainable tourism is growing all over the world. The service concept provides a travel experience with minimal luggage. Passengers can borrow clothes, thereby contributing to the protection of the environment," the airline wrote in its statement.
The weight of passengers, baggage and cargo contributes to the fuel consumption and carbon footprint of each aircraft. Every 10 kg less weight on a flight like New York to Tokyo means 7.5 kg less emissions. And how does the mentioned campaign work? The price of renting clothes depends of course on the number of items borrowed, and you will therefore deduct between 26 euros and 44 euros. The cheapest set offers three tops and two bottoms, while the most expensive option includes six tops and three bottoms. These vary by season (summer, winter, spring/autumn) and occasion.
If you want to use "Any Wear, Anywhere", register on the website one month before your trip and enter the reference number of the flight and the address of the hotel or installation. Clothing sets will be delivered to this address. The clothing rental period lasts two weeks.
