You only need a minute to read this story that will change your life

Just a minute to inspire and encourage you to change your thinking.

Two seriously ill men shared a hospital room. One was allowed to rise slightly on the bed for an hour each day. His bed was next to the window. The other man had to lie in bed on his back the whole time.

They talked a lot every day. About life, family, childhood, work... Every afternoon, when the man next to the window could sit on the bed, he described to the other what could be seen through the window. A man who had been condemned to rest all the time, he lived for that hour of the day when his world expanded and came to life in the colorful images of the outside world. The world, which he relived only through the words of his fellow sufferer, was removed from him. A park with a beautiful lake could be seen through the window. Swans swam in the lake while children played by the water. Lovers held hands. The flowers in the park were beautiful and the city skyline could be seen in the distance.

While the man who had a bed by the window was describing the events in detail to the other who was lying down, the latter closed his eyes and vividly imagined these scenes. One summer evening, a man at the window was describing a parade that had just passed by. The other man couldn't hear what was happening, but he could see it through his eyes.

And so the days and months passed. The man who had to lie down became jealous of the man by the window. He wished he too had a bed by the window so he could see all the beauties he had heard about. In his desperation, he decided to poison the man by the window.

One morning, a nurse found a lifeless body. The man lying by the window died.

As soon as possible, the other man asked if his bed could be moved to the window. The nurse happily complied with his request and left him alone. Slowly and with great effort he got up and looked out the window. But he saw only the wall, nothing else.

He asked the nurse why the other man was describing such wonderful scenes. She replied that the man was blind and could not even see a wall. "Maybe he just wanted to make you happy and brighten your day" she added.

The lesson of the story

The most beautiful thing is when you can make others happy, regardless of what situation you are in. When you share sadness, it is halved, when you share happiness, it is doubled. If you want to feel rich, count all the things you have that money can't buy. Don't be jealous of other people, but work on yourself. Share happiness and make someone happy. Otherwise, you will find yourself frustrated and alone in front of the wall.
