Zeekr, a relatively new brand under the umbrella of Chinese auto giant Geely, is on the threshold of a new milestone in the electric vehicle industry. The Zeekr 007 model, which will go on sale in the 2025 model year, is expected to become the fastest charging electric car in the world. The new Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery allows charging from 10 to 80 percent in a remarkable 10.5 minutes, meaning it could set new standards in the industry.
With a length of 4.87 meters and a sporty elegance that rivals the Model 3, the Zeekr 007 is not only aesthetically appealing. Its real value lies under the hood – a battery that promises ultra-fast charging. With the help of Zeekr V3 charging stations operating on 800V architecture, the new battery can reach a charging speed of 5.5C. In practice, this means that the entire 75 kWh capacity can be filled in about 10.5 minutes – almost as fast as filling a car tank with petrol.
Improvements that deliver competitive advantage
Zeekr 007 is not only a winner in the field of charging. Its on-road performance has also been improved. For the rear-wheel-drive models, the acceleration time is reduced from 5.4 to 5.0 seconds, while the time for the regular all-wheel-drive model is reduced from 3.5 to 3.4 seconds. In the version with the most powerful four-wheel drive, it remains the same at 2.84 seconds. According to CarNewsChina, all four-wheel drive versions have 645 hp, while the rear-wheel drive version offers 421 hp.
What does this mean for the future?
With its innovations, Zeekr is emerging as one of the leading players in the electric vehicle industry. With the already presented model Zeekr 001, which reaches a charging capacity of 546 kW, and now with the Zeekr 007, which promises to charge in just 10.5 minutes, it is clear that the company is setting new standards. With a battery capacity of 75 kWh and a charging speed of 5 kWh/min, the Zeekr surpasses even the most prestigious rivals, such as the Porsche Taycan, which reaches 3.8 kWh/min.
