Ever thought a Chinese newcomer would beat a German veteran on his own turf? The Zeekr 7X AWD Performance and the Porsche Cayenne Electric AWD are two large electric SUVs that promise family comfort with a dash of adrenaline. One costs as much as a solid weekend at the seaside, the other as much as a luxury villa – but both will take you into a zero-emission future. With Porsche’s new Cayenne Electric unveiled today, November 19, 2025, it’s time for a fair comparison. Get ready for a mix of speed, irony and that “aha” moment when you realize that cheap isn’t always bad. So – Zeekr 7X AWD Performance vs. Porsche Cayenne Electric.

Why this comparison? Let me say at the outset that it is clear to all of us that the new Porsche Cayenne it drives like Porsche. So report reliable sources. It is still the best at this. And here it holds the crown. But still – times change, so it is interesting to see what the interestingly designed Chinese competitor offers for exactly ½ the amount. And it is interestingly similar, somewhere even better than the basic entry model Porsche Cayenne. A few years ago this would have been blasphemous, but today it is completely justified. Where have we actually come to. So Zeekr 7X AWD Performance vs. Porsche Cayenne Electric.

Size and dimensions: Who is the bigger boss on the road?

Let's start with the basics – size. Zeekr 7X AWD Performance It measures 4.79 m long, 1.93 m wide and 1.66 m high, with a wheelbase of 2.90 m. It's a compact giant that can easily find its way around town, but offers enough space for five adults and their luggage. The Porsche Cayenne Electric AWD is only slightly larger: around 4.95 m long (10 centimetres longer), 1.98 m wide and 1.68 m high (two centimetres taller), with a wheelbase of around 3.00 m. The difference? The Porsche is like an older sibling that takes up more parking space, but in return gives you that extra bit of space for long family outings. The drag coefficient is at Zeekr 7x 0.24 at Porsche and 0.25 cv. Interesting.

Ironically, the Zeekr is lighter – around 2535 kg empty (EU standard), while the Porsche weighs more, which is noticeable in the dynamics. But hey, in the world of electric cars, weight is like a good joke: more, better road holding, but slower acceleration.

In the trunk Zeekr offers 539-1978 liters (with the seats folded) plus a 42-liter “frunk” in the front – ideal for shopping bags or a charging cable. The Porsche, on the other hand, boasts around 600 (dynamically adjusting the rear bench)-1800 liters in the back and a larger frunk, meaning you can cram a stroller or golf clubs in without any drama. If you’re a family with two kids and a dog, the Porsche will win the “how much stuff can we load” game, while the Zeekr will be more agile in traffic. Both are practical, but the Porsche adds that prestigious touch, like you’re driving a mobile living room. But the difference is not significant.

Battery, range and charging: Which takes you further without stopping?

This is where the real fun begins. Zeekr 7X has a 100 kWh battery (NMC chemistry, about 94 kWh usable), which promises a WLTP range of 530–550 km. In the real world? Count on 400–500 km, depending on how hard you press the pedal. The Porsche Cayenne Electric, on the other hand, comes with a larger, 113 kWh battery (about 108 kWh usable), which gives it an impressive 642 km WLTP range – that is, as if it had a tank for endless highway kilometers. But the difference is cosmetic. A real 10 kWh … or about 50 km of real-world range.

Charging? Zeekr reaches up to 360 kW of fast DC charging, which means 10–80 % in just 10–12 minutes – fast as a coffee at a gas station. The Porsche goes even further with up to 400 kW, but takes about 16 minutes for the same – plus the option of wireless charging at home, which is like charging your car without a cable while you sleep. The cynic in me says: “Who needs wireless when the Zeekr charges faster for half the price?” But on the plus side: both are future-proof, with the 800V architecture of the Porsche and the solid efficiency of the Zeekr (consumption around 19.9–17.7 kWh/100 km WLTP). The surprise is that Zeekr offers 22 kWh of AC chargingWell, Porsche for now not yet.

Power, acceleration and speed: Adrenaline on four wheels

Zeekr 7X AWD Performance is a real beast: 475 kW (646 hp), 710 Nm of torque, catapulting you from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds. Top speed? 210–220 km/h. That's faster than many supercars of the past, and in a family SUV!

Porsche Cayenne Electric AWD In the basic version, it offers 320 kW (435 hp with overboost), approximately 830 Nm, acceleration of 4.8 seconds to 100 km/h and a top speed of 230 km/h. The difference is obvious: the Zeekr is like a young racer that leaves you breathless at the traffic lights, while the Porsche plays long distances with more balanced power.

But don't underestimate the Porsche - its "DNA" means precise steering, rear-wheel steering and off-road modes that make the big car as agile as a cat. The Zeekr is a comfortable air-suspended cruiser in AWD, but less dynamic. Ironically, the Zeekr is faster for half the price - it's like getting Ferrari acceleration in Toyota packaging.

Interior, equipment and driving: Luxury or practicality?

Inside, the Zeekr shines with a 16-inch screen, massage and ventilated seats, a panoramic roof – all standard, at no extra cost. It's like buying a fully equipped smart home on wheels. The Porsche, on the other hand, has three screens (up to 14 inches), Active Ride suspension, which almost eliminates tilt, and options such as wireless charging. But practically everything is an extra cost. Driving dynamics? The Porsche is king – it drives like a dream, even on bends, with active suspension and off-road capabilities. The Zeekr is more of a "cruiser", comfortable for every day, but less prestigious by name. But it is certainly more than competitive in materials, which are top-notch for the vehicle class and, unlike the Porsche, you will not find hard plastic here.

Prices?
The Zeekr costs €62,000–65,000 (available now), while the Porsche costs €105,000–115,000 (delivery in summer 2026). Here, the Zeekr wins in value – a lot of equipment without the “option roulette”.

Historical Insight: From Rookies to Legends

Zeekr is part of the Geely empire, a young Chinese player that is quickly conquering Europe with innovation. Porsche, on the other hand, has a rich heritage – the Cayenne has revolutionized SUVs since 2002, and is now transitioning into the electric era with the experience of the Taycan. This adds context: Zeekr is a breath of fresh air, while Porsche is a proven classic.

Conclusion: Zeekr 7X AWD Performance vs. Porsche Cayenne Electric AWD

If you're looking for instant AWD performance with insane speed, tons of features, and a reasonable price, the Zeekr 7X AWD Performance is one of the best electric cars you can buy today. For half the price of the Porsche, you get faster acceleration (3.8s vs. 4.8s), solid range, and practicality that won't let you down. It's like a smartphone that does it all without breaking the bank.

But the Porsche Cayenne Electric AWD is for those who want a bigger, more upscale car with better range (up to 400 miles), a dynamic ride, and that “horsepower” on the nose that screams “success.” You pay a premium, but you get an experience that the Zeekr doesn’t yet match—precise steering, off-road capability, and higher resale value.

Personally? I would choose the Zeekr with reason and save for the holidays – it’s fast, comfortable and a positive surprise around every corner. But my heart would take the Porsche, because driving it is not just transportation, but an adventure. If I won the lottery, I would take the Cayenne and charge it wirelessly, while the Zeekr would remain as a fun second car.

Either way, both are winners in the electric revolution – just choose according to your wallet and heart. What about you, readers? Which one would you choose? Share in the comments!
