Zola Jesus, an American singer, is coming to Kino Šiška with her new album Taiga on March 19. She will perform in Vienna on March 17, and in Budapest on March 18.
American woman of Russian roots, Nika Roza Danilova, is a former philosophy and French student who studied opera singing in her youth. Her stage name comes from a coinage of names Emil Zola and Jesus Christ. In the last three years, she has gone from an experimental musician to an internationally recognized artist. During her career, she released three EPs and five full-length albums, in which she combined electronic, industrial, classical, goth and experimental music.
To create his fifth self-titled studio album Taiga Nika, Zola Jesus, moved from downtown Los Angeles to Vashon Island in the Puget Sound, wanting to immerse herself in the world of nature. Nika's creative process on Vashon Island was, for the most part, very different from what it had been. On previous albums, she started writing music with rhythm or layers of sounds from the synthesizer, and usually added vocals last, but this time she wrote the songs completely acapella first.

She edited the album in Los Angeles together with co-producer Dean Hurley (he had previously worked with David Lynch, with Danger Mouse and Sparklehorse). Taiga undoubtedly represents something new for Zola Jesus. As the musician herself described it: "The music on this record is violent, with strong brass and bass, with crystal clear vocals."
The ticket price is 17 euros, 20 euros on the day of the event.
