A car that Maserati simply has to make

Maserati Genesis

You could say Maserati hasn't made a proper supercar since 2005, when they stopped producing the ultra-fast MC12. From afar, the Alfieri concept made us a bit more expensive, but unfortunately we didn't get to see more than the renovation of the GranTurismo, which has been in production for almost 10 years. So what should Maserati do to win back its loyal fans? Maybe this time's concept will encourage them to create something unique.

A concept with a name Genesis was imagined by an Italian designer Sergey Dvornytskyy and also converted his idea into computer sketches. Visually, it's vastly different from anything found in Maserati's current range, yet draws its inspiration from the Alfieri Concept and the current GranTurismo. The designer's goal was to create a high-performance and stylishly interesting two-seater coupe, intended for people who are passionate drivers and for whom driving means a lot.

The front end of the Genesi carries many Maserati cues, such as the front air vent with upright bars and headlights that can be seen on the concept Alfieri. The side profile is unique and extremely elegant, and at the rear, you can feel the sporty elements again, expressed by the sports diffuser and narrow taillights. Genesi could thus be argued to be a kind of spiritual successor to Maserati 2000 Coupe.

The interior is minimalist yet luxurious. The main colors are white and blue, and the leather upholstery has a pattern diamond. A touchscreen center console controls the infotainment system, and the sports car-inspired steering wheel has a central screen with all the necessary information. The concept has a bunch of autonomous driving systems with the option of virtual reality when the car is in fully autonomous driving mode, but the latter is just a theory right now. If it ever goes into production of the concept Genesis, it will be a fully electric car with a power between 298 and 372 kW (400 and 500 hp). The Genesi is definitely a stunning concept that Maserati engineers could take as a serious example and once again tackle a bold and breathtaking project.
