Forbes magazine recently announced the most overpaid and the most profitable actors/actresses of 2015. The infamous title of the most overpaid actor was earned by Johnny Depp, and the most revered and most profitable actor in 2015 was Chris Evans. And while the category that actors are not proud of is dominated by men (Depp is followed by Denzel Washington, Will Ferrell and Liam Neeson), Chris Evans is in an all-female category, followed by Mila Kunis, Scarlett Johansson, Gwyneth Paltrow and Emma Stone.
Johnny Depp was the hen that lays the golden eggs for the film studios for a long time, but people apparently got fed up with his extravagant roles, because (according to the calculations of the magazine Forbes) in 2015 he is considered the most overpaid actor in Hollywood, where he succeeded the king of the last two years, Adam Sandler, who meanwhile "retired" to Netflix. For the studio, in the current year, Depp only brought in per dollar invested $1.20, and he pocketed an enviable 30 million for his roles.
He secured first place mainly because of his role in the film Mortdecai, which was his biggest shot in the dark, and before that he specifically kicked the dark with the films The Lonely Rider (Disney scored more than $150 million loss) and Transcendence, both of which met with poor critical and audience response. Although Depp is with the film Black Mass turned the curve upwards, this biography is for this year scale released too late, as Forbes lists the actor's/actress's last three films that were released before June of the current year.
