Basically it's about 4,2 meters long car that in height 1,6 meters and hides in the back a very useful 350 liters luggage compartment. Useful because the trunk itself seems larger precisely because of its regular box shape. So it is also big enough for a family weekend getaway. For anything more, you will have to reach for the roof box. The interior is different and a bit more restrained. It also feels spacious due to its considerable height, while at the same time giving the feeling that you are sitting in a much larger car. In practice, this means that behind the wheel of the Renegade you feel 'stronger' than other road users. And the car gives the feeling that you are driving a real Jeep and not just a car in the SUV category. The position on the road is quite neutral and undemanding to driving. There is little information from under the wheels and it is not detectable on the steering wheel.
The test Renegade was equipped with a 1.6-liter diesel engine that squeezes out 120 horsepower and transfers it to the front wheels. Yes, you heard that right. A real jeep, only with front-wheel drive. The engine is found in many vehicles of the Fiat Chrysler Automobiles group, and it is not the greatest gem, as it causes a lot of acoustic discomfort when starting from cold. But when the engine reaches operating temperature, the matter becomes more pleasant and satisfying. The engine shows all 120 horses and does not hide them. This is also why the driving sensations are good. Regardless of the brick shape of the vehicle, the final consumption is satisfactory and in reality is around 7.3 liters per hundred kilometers driven.
Renegade is not a pearl, but on the other hand, it has many trump cards. Above all, it is sufficiently different from the class average that it can convince those who want an off-the-shelf vehicle.
