Škoda Vision X Concept: a technologically advanced concept

Skoda Vision X Concept

With each new model, the Škoda brand is sharper to look at, and it is no different with the concept Škoda Vision X Concept. It indicates the design direction Škoda will take in the future. It sits on 20-inch wheels, which is typical of concept cars anyway. It has hooks that hide in the door, creating a smooth side profile. Add to that an extravagant and minimalistic interior with a large central screen and we already have a very attractive concept.

By size Skoda Vision X Concept it ranks below Škoda's Karoq, but more than that it is interesting from the point of view of technology. He can drive it gasoline, compressed natural gas or just electricity. It represents the heart of the concept 1.5-liter gasoline engine, which instead of TSI has the designation G-TEC like the rest of Škoda's models, which can run on CNG - compressed natural gas.

When the Vision X Concept is powered by CNG, it has 130 horsepower and 200 Nm of torque, which is quite enough for everyday driving in the city. CNG gas is stored in two separate containers, one under the rear seat and the other just behind the rear axle. The primary container is under the rear bench, which is also used most often. The secondary begins to discharge only when we need more power and additional momentum. Vision X has two electric motors. The first is classic, connected with a belt to the gasoline engine and acts as its starter. The second has a completely different function, as it is an electric motor in terms of propulsion, which provides an additional 70 Nm of torque. It is located on the rear axle and provides the necessary momentum when it is needed. It is connected to a lithium-ion battery, which is charged by recuperation or regenerative braking.

Depending on the driving conditions, the Škoda Vision X Concept can be powered by front, rear or both pairs of wheels. All in all, the Vision X can handle just about anything 1000 Nm of torque, which is a very impressive number. As far as performance is concerned, it is not at the very top, but it is quite competitive in average everyday use. From 0 to 100 km/h takes 9.3 seconds and reaches top speed 200 km/h. Also, the distance that can be traveled on a tank of fuel is quite comparable to that of conventional cars with a gasoline engine, and is 650 kilometers. At the same time, the Vision X produces only 89 grams of harmful emissions per kilometer driven. If you run out of gas, there is an electric scooter in the trunk, which you can use to drive another kilometer and a half.
