When thinking about buying an electric car, we are often faced with the high prices of new models. However, the used electric car market offers an attractive alternative. It is interesting that the price for used electric cars - in the first few years can drop drastically - in some cases even up to 50%. This is due to a combination of the natural depreciation experienced by all vehicles and especially the rapid decline in electric vehicle prices over the last two years, which has been accelerated by Tesla's price war. Let's see!

In our selection, we focused on models that have not only lost a significant part of their original value, but are also classified as the best electric cars on the market. The selected cars meet a series of strictly defined criteria: they have a high battery capacity of more than 80 kWh, which enables an impressive range of approx. 400 kilometers. Most of them have a power of over 300 horsepower and are equipped with 4×4 drive. They are 3 to 4 years old, some even less, with a guaranteed price below 50,000 euros. Additionally, they have at least a four-year warranty on the battery and have less than 60,000 kilometers traveled.

Two models stand out among them: Tesla Model 3 Performance from 2020, the price of which has been reduced from the original 70,000+ euros to around 35,000 euros, and Audi e-tron, which was initially worth around €90,000+, but is now available for approx 35,000 euros. Once the pinnacle of technological innovation, these vehicles are now available at significantly lower prices, presenting a tremendous opportunity for potential buyers. So – used electric cars!

Hyundai IONIQ 5: 306 PS / 70 kWh / 35,000 EUR / Year 2021

Those of you who follow the electric vehicle market and tests a bit more have definitely noticed the efforts Hyundai, to make a really good electric car. He definitely managed to do that with the model IONIQ 5, which we had on test. The latter is one of those electric cars that dominate in many areas, as they combine well the mixture of old and new. We all recognize the car's retro chic design, which impresses us from the outside, but leaves us cold inside, which in our opinion lacks the character of the exterior. But it is one of the few electric cars where we have had no problems, for example with reliability around the range. Also, in a way, the car seems to us to be a real traveller, as one of its features is exceptional "softness" and travel comfort. A good car, the price of which started at just over 50,000 euros, and you can now buy it for around 35,000 euros when it is only two years old.

Renault Megane e-tech EV60 Iconic: 200 PS / 60 kWh / 30,000 EUR / Year 2021

Despite the fact that the Megane e-tech is not often seen on the roads and is little talked about, it is actually one of the best electric cars in the world. In fact, Renault has put all the pioneering knowledge it has accumulated on models in the group, such as the Renault Zoe or the Nissan Leaf, into it. Therefore, it is not a first-generation electric car like, for example, the Volkswagen ID.3 or its other direct competitors. Consumption is low due to optimized motors, charging is satisfactory fast. The range is great, because with this car, despite only a 60 kWh battery, you can easily overcome 400 km on a single charge. At a price of around 30,000 euros, which is how some cars are sold on mobile.de with few kilometers, this is, in our humble opinion, practically one of the best purchases at the moment. But you definitely get the most electric car bang for your buck. The Renault Megane e-tech is quietly the best electric car.

Jaguar I-Pace EV400 S: 400 PS / 90 kWh / 42,000 EUR / year 2020

Jaguar I-Pace was one of those cars that was really applauded by the motoring press and we don't understand why Jaguar it hasn't introduced new electric models since then, because the I-Pace is really good. Jaguar I-Pace EV400 S combines elegance with power, offers 400 hp and 696 Nm of torque, which allows it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in an impressive 4.8 seconds. With an electric range of around 400 km and a useful battery capacity of 84.7 kWh, the I-Pace is ready for adventures without compromise. It offers fast charging of up to somewhere around 120 kW (according to the latest reports), which allows charging the battery from 0 to 80% in 72 minutes, which is not fast by modern standards, but greatly outweighs the net capacity, which is quite high.

Mercedes-Benz EQC 400 4Matic: 408 PS / 84 kWh / 43,000 EUR / year 2020

Polestar 2 – LR: 231 KM (PS) / 78 kWh / 45,000 EUR / year 2022

We have it in the editorial office Polestar 2 extremely liked the visual as we like Volvos. No matter how you look at it, it's an electric Volvo with a little more equipment. The car has received some criticism, but we think it should be valued for what it is. A good electric car for those who want a slightly different look. And this is what Volvo always communicates. It may not have the most horsepower - 231, but it makes up for it with a relatively large battery, which it must have, because the car, like any Volvo, is quite heavy. Fast charging is really good and reaches speeds of up to around 200kW, allowing for fast charging times. The actual range of the car is about 430 kilometers, which, given its year and price, makes it an interesting car in our selection.

BMW iX3: 286 HP (PS) / 74 kWh / 40,000 EUR / year 2021

The BMW iX3 won't win any beauty contests, and it certainly won't be first in the aerodynamics contest. Its strong point is engine efficiency, where BMW really has quite a bit of experience, including from the i3, which was one of the pioneers of the electric revolution and one of the first high-volume cars on the market. Despite borrowing the body of the BMW X3, it's still a product that definitely belongs on our list. Also because we believe that BMW will get out of labor pains and finally start producing cars only on a platform exclusively for electric cars. At the moment, it is precisely the strategy of a dual approach on the same platform, which requires too many compromises, that is beating them the most. Nevertheless, the BMW iX3 remains interesting for all believers in the BMW brand.
