If you preferred to spend the summer at the sea, then autumn is the perfect time to put on your mountain shoes and head up the hill as a family. We offer you some suggestions that will enchant even the youngest.

Koš (674m)

The hills that separate Lokavska polje from the Bay of Trieste offer a range of opportunities for picturesque views of the sea and the surrounding Karst. It is interspersed with footpaths and cycle paths, making it suitable for autumn walks as well. Koča na Kokoša is located just above Lipica, which is popular with tourists, so you can also combine the climb with a visit to the horse riding center or the Škocjan Caves.

Menina mountain (1200 – 1450m)

We have already praised Menina Planina several times, which is no coincidence, as it is particularly popular among children. The route is not so demanding that they lose their will, and at the end they are richly rewarded with delicious dishes in Dom na Menina. You can also visit the pre-Alpine delayed plateau with a stroller, otherwise it will take you about an hour to walk in the company of children.

St. Peter nad Begunjami (839m)

Above Begunje, not far from the exit for Bled, you can see the small church of St. Petra, which emerges from the slope of Karavank. It will take you about 45 minutes to climb, and the path will lead you over pastures and forests, and at the end you will be rewarded with an exceptional view all the way to Bled. If you want to see the lake as well, walk to Sankaška koča, where you can also find playgrounds and a snack bar.

Uršlja gora (1,699m)

One of the most visited mountains in Slovenia has quite a few names. For example, it is better known to many under the name Plešivec. It rises almost 1,700 m above sea level and is considered the easternmost peak of the Karavanki Mountains, and due to its isolated location, it looks like a volcano at first glance. At the top, a beautiful view of the surroundings awaits all hikers, and the well-maintained and not too steep path makes it suitable for children as well.

Lawrence Lakes (1520m)

If you are in a hurry somewhere in Rogla, do not overlook the Lovrenška jezera. The popular tourist spot is also suitable for children, and there is also an observation tower by the lakes, which the little ones will be more than impressed with. You can walk between the lakes on wooden footbridges, and you will be led there by a path that is not too demanding, but due to its length, children will definitely need some help.
