Orchids are among the most popular flowers with which we beautify our home. Here are 5 mistakes to avoid in order to keep our orchids blooming.

1. Pay attention to what type of orchid you have

There are several types of orchids and each of them will react differently to weather conditions and circumstances, in which it is located. So there are species that they need more water and also those who will too much watering is harmful. The same applies to temperature - of some types the heat won't bother, others will feel the best in shadow. Therefore, it is important to before buying you ask well, what kind of care is needed by the type you have chosen.

The orchid that we will come across most often in flower shops is called Phalaenopsis. This type of flower will have the longest lifespan if kept in a room with a temperature between 18°C and 20°C, but don't worry, even occasional heat won't harm it too much. 2. Transplant them into pots of the correct size

Orchids usually transplant, when we notice that they roots grown. In no case should they stay in the same pot more than two years, as they will not survive long in the same compost. When transplanting, be careful pot size, as too much compost will not dry out quickly enough, which can lead to root rot. Use a pot that is just a little bigger from the one in which you kept the flower before transplanting.

3. Some species need transparent pots

In order to enable them to have a smooth process of photosynthesis, we need orchids of the type Phalaenopsis plant in transparent pots. On the other hand, species such as dendrobium and cymbidium, do not have photosynthetic roots, so they can also be planted in opaque pots. The species vanda but she will survive the longest in hanging baskets or pots.

Many therefore do not water orchids at all, but irrigate, but it is recommended to do this only when you are sure that in the substrate no more moisture. Then immerse them in water up to the cherry pot, leave them there for two to ten minutes, and then drain them thoroughly.

5. Get the right light

Most of them are orchids lovers of light, but this does not apply to strong light, oriented directly into them. The worst thing you can do to your flowers is to place them on direct sunlight, as their leaves will dry out too quickly.
