When making pancakes at home, most of us probably swear by the most authentic 'European' recipes. Pancakes that we eat in European environment, probably we all know  flour, liquid (water, milk, drinks), eggs and salt. But here they are recipes for pancakes that are prepared in other parts of the world. Hint: they are not as we know them.

INGRIDIENTS:

  • 140 g of granulated flour
  • 60 g of yogurt
  • a teaspoon of salt
  • Glass of water
  • 90 g of ground red pepper
  • tomato (finely chopped)
  • half an onion (finely chopped)
  • spoon of ginger powder
  • spoon of oil + cooking oil
  • 2 chili peppers (remove seeds, finely chopped)
  • 15 g of coriander

 

PREPARATION:

Mix flour, yogurt and salt in a bowl. Gradually add water until the ingredients are combined. Add ground red pepper, tomato, onion, chili, coriander, ginger and oil to them. When the ingredients form a mass, use a ladle to pour it over the pan, which is already heated to the medium temperature of the hob. Bake both sides of the pancake until golden brown.

Dutch baby pancakes, USA

INGRIDIENTS:

  • 85 g of flour
  • 180 ml of warm milk
  • a spoonful of sugar
  • a spoonful of nutmeg
  • 3 eggs
  • 4 tablespoons of butter

PREPARATION:

Heat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius. Combine flour, milk, sugar, eggs and nutmeg in a bowl. Melt the butter in a cast-iron container (or baking pan) at medium temperature on the stovetop, pour the resulting mixture into it, and quickly place it in the oven. Bake the pancake for 20 minutes, when it rises to the edge of the pan or cast iron pan, it is ready to serve.

INGRIDIENTS:

  • 250 g of flour
  • pinch of salt
  • 180 ml of warm water
  • 3 tablespoons of cold water
  • 3 tablespoons of oil + cooking oil
  • a spoonful of salt
  • sliced spring onion
  • Soy sauce

PREPARATION:

Combine flour, salt and warm water in a bowl. When the mass is formed, gradually add cold water while mixing. Cover the mixture and let it stand for 45 minutes. On a floured surface, roll out a medium-thick dough, sprinkle onions over it, pour oil over it and add salt. Form the dough into a roll, then cut it into 12 equal segments. Heat the pan, put the pancakes in it and cook them for 3 minutes on both sides. Serve with soy sauce.

INGRIDIENTS:

  • 350 g of young corn
  • a spoonful of salt
  • 30 g of corn starch
  • 2 tablespoons of sugar
  • 60 ml of milk
  • salsa, sauce
  • mozzarella

 

PREPARATION:

In a blender, chop the corn, salt, sugar, cornstarch and milk. Heat the pan and pour the pancake batter over it with a ladle. Cook for 3 minutes on both sides. Before the end of baking, add mozzarella to one half of the pancake and fold it over. Bake until the cheese melts and turns golden. Serve with sauce, salsa.

Fluffy Japanese Pancakes, Japan

INGRIDIENTS:

  • 2 egg yolks
  • 30 g of sugar
  • 120 ml of milk
  • 4 egg whites
  • pancake batter
  • butter, syrup and fruit (when served)

PREPARATION:

Mix the egg yolks, sugar, milk and pancake mix in a very large bowl. In another bowl, beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form. Mix the snow from the egg whites into the pancake mixture. Pour the mass into the round metal molds, which you place in the middle of the pan (the mass should occupy ¾ of the mold). At the lowest temperature of the hob, bake both sides of the pancake for 10 minutes. It is important that they are soft and fluffy after baking. Serve them with your favorite toppings and fruits.
