6 polite habits that really annoy hotel staff

Here are some polite habits that have a completely different effect than you would like. Check out what is better to avoid in a hotel.

Here's something polite manners, which should be avoided the next time, because sometimes a good intention can lead to a water rafting.

Browsing maid carts

Even if you need an extra towel or shampoo, and you don't want to bother the maid for such a small thing, it's better not to touch her cart yourself. It is tempting to simply take the item from the cart that is conveniently parked in the hallway or from an open closet, but this can cause real "chaos". Large hotel chains record the stocks of individual accessories daily, and a "missing" pillow can cause a host of problems for the maid.

You think the employees live in the hotel

Many guests imagine that hotel employees live on site or at least nearby. As one of the maids at the resort told Reader's Digest Florida, she often receives questions about what it's like to live at the resort, how much fun it is, and whether she took the job because of the credits the said resort offers. It's even worse because some guests assume that he does his job out of love and belonging to the resort. "Who likes to clean all day?! I do this because I need a paycheck. But I still have to smile and thank the guests who think they are paying me a compliment," said the unnamed maid.

You trust them to keep the accounts correct

Nowadays, many people use automatic cash registers, but there are surprisingly many guests who check out at the front desk without even looking at their bill. As many receptionists have said, it's nice to have people trust them, and the system can go wrong, so they recommend always checking the bill. Although at first glance it may seem like one of the polite habits of not showing distrust, receptionists will be grateful if you don't bother them about mistakes afterwards.

You ask about their personal life

Talking to a friendly maid, janitor or porter is a great idea, but be respectful and don't treat them like servants. Hotel staff are fine with pleasant conversations, but most don't like it when they get personal. They don't like it when you ask them about their relationship status, their children, their last name, or even what time they finish their shift.

You help them clean

Every now and then the maids come across a guest who will try to help with the cleaning - either by cleaning with the worker (no-no!) or by trying to anticipate what would come in handy, for example by taking off everything bedding and laid it on the floor. This may only add more work to the maid, as the bed linen is not changed every day. And even by wiping the counters and sweeping, you won't be doing the maids any favors.

You don't trust them with your problems right away

Among the most unpleasant habits of the guests, the hotel staff mentioned the habit of people not telling about their problems right away, but rather delaying them because they want to be a nuisance. Some people cook in rooms without air conditioning, while others sleep in dirty bedding. That's why it's good to tell them what's bothering you and they'll try to help you as best they can.
