In 1927, the film cameraman Claude Friese-Greene immortalized his trip around Great Britain, which ended in London, with a then brand new color camera. As much as 87 years later, Simon Smith managed to recreate the same magical scenes, only with more modern equipment. Joining alongside the Friese-Greens, it brings a look into two different eras of the British capital.
Recently, the British Film Institute (BFI) restored and revived the wonderful scenes of London from the 20s of the last century under the title "The Open Road", which immediately went viral on social networks. So filmmaker Simon Smith came up with a bold idea. With modern equipment comparable to that of the time, he embarked on Friese-Green's filming journey and recreated the same scenes in the spirit of today's London. As he said, it was an interesting personal experience through which he realized that the city has not really changed much in all these years.
