It's nothing new - both Dove and Dear Kate have already managed to parody Victoria's Secret's "The Perfect Body" campaign - but it's struck again. Plus-size retailer Lane Bryant has just launched a new ad campaign, #ImNoAngel, promoting the Cacique underwear line, celebrating body diversity and, of course, holding up a mirror to its winged competitor.
At the end of last year, the brand Victoria's Secret experienced a strong backlash for her campaign "The Perfect Body", which featured a sequence of models with a fairly uniform body type. Petition on Change.org is and support from social media (#iamperfect) forced the company to change its slogan to “A Body For Every Body”.
Lane Bryant in the video #ImNoAngel, posted on YouTube, shows a group of "plus-size" models the new Cacique underwear line, while the girls say things like, "How boring would it be if we were all the same?" and "It's all about how you feel". So the message is clear: Any woman can be "sexy", not just those few women.
